yoga 1:00:00 [1]

zumba 1:00:00 [3]

Haven't done these movements in a while! Figured I give it a try and not go all out, maybe only do half the class.. didn't exactly stick to the plan..
Either the room was really hot and had no oxygen, or I'm out of shape right now, maybe a combination of the two, it was hard work.

After another fun time babysitting I borrowed Mike's Brown map and went out for a few controls. Beautiful pine trees, pine needle covered grounds, white birch stems in cute swamps and yellow/orange/red leaves everywhere. I took it all in, the feeling, the smells, so happy to be out there.

Note

Saw Gina the chiropractor for the 10th time. She did her thing and then she started telling me about Dr Guan, also in Cheshire, who've successfully treated her, her daughter, her patients and friends for various symptoms with acupuncture.
I figured I rather try small needles than a big cortisone shot.. gave them a call while I was up there and they were able to fit me in. Dr Guan didn't say much and quickly got to work. He put a few needles in the painful area, left me laying under a heating lamp for maybe half an hour. Then he came back, took the needles out, made me stand up and then bend over, resting the upper body on a pile of pillows on the bench. He then continued with pressing around the left side lower back/hip, asking if it hurt and when I said yes he would stab me with something that felt like a bunch of needles. Each time a few stabs ending with one that felt deep and painful, followed by some pumping/sucking and wiping off my skin, blood?
That was it, then he said "you're fine now". I was confused and amazed, one treatment?! I told him Gina suspects I have inflamed tendons deep inside of my SI-joint and he just said "I don't think so". He also said "you can book another appointment but I don't think you need it".

Amazing but also annoying. I have wasted a lot of pain, frustration, time and money on this injury. And I can't help but to partly blame the American healthcare. Anyway I'm hoping this was it, that I'm healed.

Dark outside and cold when you get out of bed, definitely more of an effort to get up in the morning. Still feels good once at the gym and even better after class. I think I'm there super early but I always meet people leaving the gym when I get there(!)

yoga 1:30:00 [2]

Hot yoga. Woo, intense. Lots of pretzely poses, Lori the teacher kind of pushes you if you're almost there, cool, did some things I didn't think I would be able to. We did a neat core exercise, think it was called a "hollow body rock".

yoga 1:30:00 [2]

Hot yoga. This was much tougher than yesterday's class. Static work that made my legs scream at times, some quicker flow series that got the heart rate up, I sweated a lot and after the class I can really feel that I worked my muscles, nice! The class was 2 hrs total.

Chiropractor visit
These ligaments don't seem like they wanna work with us. Things just aren't settling. Gina is also getting frustrated - why isn't it working? I'm still tight and my body still makes a lot of crack & pop noises during the quite painful treatments. She'll try to get me in to see a orthopedic doctor friend of hers next week.

yoga 1:00:00 [1]

Decided to do a trial-membership at a yoga studio that offers hot yoga. It's in a hot & humid room, 90°F. Dimmed lights and candles, incense & the teacher plays a gong bell during the relaxation(?)
This class was kind of slow with some focus on the downward facing dog pose, how to get the most out of it. For the relaxation we were laying facing down resting on a bolster between the ribcage and the hipbones. Class was 1,5 hrs total.

I get a kick out of the names of the poses, like: cow face. The one I heard as "firewall" last week was fire log.

I'm slowly losing patience to wait this out.. and Gina told me about the option of trying a cortisone shot

Unbelievable summer day (in October!), we went to Watch Hill, RI. Water was cold but so nice and clear. I love the sea.

Note

I set the alarm to get up early and follow 25manna. Unfortunately the live-coverage was really bad and the results were messed up and hard to follow, though I could listen to the speaker and got some updates via texts from friends.
OK Löftan has had a few DQs in 25manna throughout the years and this year it happened again :( Another team had taken one of our 4th leg maps, so one of our little guys got a 5th leg 6.3km course instead of a 2.6km, he made it around which is very impressive but we got DQed.

Last time I ran 25manna was 2007, the last leg, it was a really fun and good race (21/346 on the leg).

Note

Maybe I pushed a bit too hard on the bike ride Thursday, cause the pain came back :( so ice, stretch and yoga.
We had a lot of people over at our place Saturday and we started talking about running races while one of the guys signed up for a Thanksgiving day 5km.. and soon somebody asked me if I'm running a lot now.. sensitive subject, while I'm so frustrated & emotional right now and I could hardly explain, felt like I was gonna start crying, like I've lost my identity. Another thing is that normally I would use running to empty myself from negativity.
Wawawa, please don't give me sympathy, I just need to get this out somewhere.

bike 1:05:48 [1] 19.96 km (3:18 / km) +97m 3:13 / km

Mike came with me and we rode over to a pharmacy in Hamden, where I bought this wedge-shaped cushion to sit on.

When I saw Gina Monday we concluded I haven't found a good solution for sitting at work yet. She suggested to either sit on something that slopes - to always keep the knees below the butt and take the pressure off the lower back/sit bones or to sit on a donut-cushion that will also take the pressure off. I sat on a 3" binder and it seemed to work well (although it wasn't the most comfortable), I didn't feel as much pain. Even if it made me happy I was afraid to believe in it too soon as the Swedish saying "you shouldn't shout Hi! before you're across the stream" (man ska inte ropa hej innan man är över bäcken).
I also looked into if they could order me a kneeling chair at work.
