Fun course, no long legs. Sunny cold day.
Kept up with the big crowd for the first 4 controls, we were running pretty fast. Tough but fun - relay-feeling! Some confusion and overshooting of #1.
Was a bit passed and below #6. Could still see a few people when leaving #8. Veered too far left going in for #9 from the trail, realized and corrected.
After checking out a boulder that wasn't the control feature, Peter Grollman & Boris were with me at #10. In company with Peter for most of the time from there on.
Saw Neil at #12 and again at #13. Heading for #14 Neil was sligthly infront of me and as we passed through some prickles, he got stuck! So I passed him! :) But I veered off too much right, so he got to the control first anyway.
Going uphill to #18 my legs were really burning. Was a bit lost in the green looking for #20.
Went left to #21, just as we ran up that little trail (skyline) I remember that was what I did last year and it's slow going down that dangerous steep cliffy part. Neil said: "I don't want to do this" and turned around. Cutting through the white leaving #20 would have been quicker.
Had trouble finding #23. Stopped a bit early for #24. Spent quite a while looking for #25, until Neil came and led us to it.
Tired, tried to push it and wanted to beat Neil but didn't have anything extra to give as we were heading for the finish. 4s.
Had to blow my nose like every 10m, but breathing was ok and I think I had a pretty good pace. Fun race!
Walked a lot of the uphills while I was tired, but running with guys I realize I also loose time downhill. Maybe should start doing hill repeats, both up and down!
Wore my elastic ankle thingys and they worked well, no twists and no blisters.
