Note
(rest day)

Feeling nauseous and a bit dizzy all day, kind of like a hang-over, from the race. Dehydration, not eating enough?

My first Billygoat race. It was tough but fun! Great course by Head Goat Joe!

We were running fast in the beginning, I was in a big group that skipped #14. Had a bad side stitch pain during the trail run to 15, was putting pressure on the right side of my stomach with the right hand and switched the compass to the left hand so I could squeeze it. Fortunately 15 & 16 were uphill, we slowed down and the pain lightened. Boris joined us at #17. Did some unnecessary hill-climbing going to 18. 18 was the food & drinks station and I opened the gel I brought, had some, but it was so awful I had to spit it out (never tried gel before).. drank some Gatorade that Lyn handed me instead. Did the butterfly loops in a group with Boris, Vadim, Sergiy, Ali, Carl & Giacomo. We lost Ali on the way to 28 but she was with us again by #30. Going to 31 we split just before the control: Boris, Carl, Giacomo and I went too much to the right and we lost Vadim, Sergiy & Ali. On the long trail run from 32 to 33 my side stitch pain came back and it was hard to run. Going in to 33 we met Ali, Vadim & Sergiy. No way we would be able to catch them. Felt out of energy for the last couple of controls and into the finish.

Picked up 24, 25, 5+ water, 4 & 3. Felt like hard work even if I was just walking in my rain boots.

This was fun! Thanks Ali and other organizers!

Teamed up with Boris, and I ran the 1st and 3rd leg.
Ended up in a small pack with Joe & Andrew. Took me a while to find #6. Sprinted up the finish hill against Jeff S, had to push, he's fast!
PG promised Joe a sixpack beers if he beat me on the 1st leg and he did, but we agreed to share it :)

Went more in the direction of #6 going to #5 and had to back-track, so met Andrew, Jeff S & Joe. This time Jeff S was out of reach up the hill to the finish. Boris had some great races and we finished 2nd.

run 28:03 [2] 5.83 km (4:48 / km) +57m 4:35 / km

Morning run along the streets in Westville + a little trail loop. So colorful and pretty right now, lots of different flowers in these fancy gardens (our lawn is full of Dandelions). Left the house at 6am but I wasn't alone out there, saw a few walkers & joggers.. and on the other side of town someone even sillier was running intervals ;)

strength (BOSU) 5:00 [1]

Left foot sore after some twisting at WP and Five Ponds, mid-foot between ankle and baby toe. Could it be from inov8 x-talons not being firm enough?
