Event: OOC B-meet

10 AM

Orienteering race 1:12:35 [4] *** 6.4 km (11:20 / km)
spiked:12/13c

First event on the March Highlands map (kept as backup for last years COCs). Very nice mostly open forest with a network of mountain bike trails meandering all over the place. My race was OK, not pushing the running as my left hamstring is still bothering me. I had a couple of stupid mistakes in the end, on 10 and on route to 13, due to not concentrating and not reading the map but rushing it too much. Good course by Brian.

Running 1:15:00 [3]

OOC running group training. Warm-up to Mud Lake, the road toward the water treatment plant.
Was supposed to do
3 x 200 (road-stride pace) – 6 x 300 (levy-hard) 3 x 200 (road – stride pace)
but left hamstring tighten up due to all running last few days and now hard surface so I had to stop halfway.
Did 3 x200 at about 50s each 200, then 4x 300 on the levy trail at about 80s before I stopped.
Run back to Frank Ryan Park.

Very nice get-together afterwards at Errol and Karen with chili supper and sweets.

spiked:24/24c

Summer Solstice-O at McCarthy Woods.
Hot weather and I run out of energy halfway though the course.

Orienteering warm up/down 10:00 [2]

Orienteering race 42:30 [4] ***** 3.5 km (12:09 / km)
spiked:9/10c

Middle distance at US Team trails. Good race, more in control today, only one mistake on 4 where I lost contact with the map and had difficulty relocating, ~3min lost. Hamstring still tight but didn't slow me much except in the finish chute. Very nice course!
