City biking 35:00 [3] 6.2 mi (5:39 / mi) +10m 5:37 / mi

Left the house at 6am, headed for the pancake house in Wilmette on the North Shore. But flatted when barely into Evanston, with the dawn rosy gold in the east. Walked over to the Howard L station, and back home for repairs. Ended up replacing tube in front; patching the abrasion leak in the rear tire.

I went through my bike stuff and inventoried it all. After 48 years of city biking, I have plenty of supplies to last the rest of my life...and Sari's. I toyed with the idea of pulling the 700 clincher wheels, and replacing them with my tubular wheels. I have plenty of brand-new tubular tires from my triathlon days. And my experience with tubulars is that they ride better, and don't flat as often. For instance, you don't get 'snake-bite' or abrasion leaks in tubulars, since the tube is completely surrounded with the casing, carefully sewn together.
