Nothing from GC, so manual import. Worked a bit up north - rolling hills, but less steep stuff to give the foot a break. A bit sore for the first 30 minutes, but not bad after that, even traversing rocky ground, though did so gingerly..

Primarily trails today in an area I haven't spent any significant time in - added two, eliminated two that weren't evident on the ground. And tweaked quite a bit of remaining trails to match terrain. Added a few near-trail point features, but didn't venture off trail much. Foot mostly ok except for steeper downhill bits, definitely more pain off trail on uneven ground.

May go look at some cheap (used?) shoes to see if I can't resolve this foot thing without surgery. But a bit reluctant to drop full price for a new lineup of shoes before I know for sure if sizing up will do the trick.

Foot really bothersome today, cut it shorter than planned.

Went to see the podiatrist yesterday. Turns out the issue with my right 4th toe isn't a persistent wart like I had thought, but is instead a bone issue causing excess callus and nerve pinching. My right foot is a size 12 and my left foot is a size 11 and I've been wearing 11/11.5 shoes for quite a while. Doctor suggested trying a larger shoe to see if that improves anything and if not, then perhaps simple surgery to shorten the toe bone, but I'll wait until winter to consider that option. The doctor did cut away a bit of the callus yesterday which may explain the extra discomfort today.

Easy run on an 8.5km course I set at Case, mostly using control locations already streamered and adding a couple new ones. Never really pushed the pace, and took some meandering routes in part to avoid areas I've run recently and to explore some bits of woods I haven't spent time in yet. Really, really gorgeous woods all the way around, marshes dry and foliage starting to drop.

Plan to restart mapping in the morning. Will focus on the area covered by this course to start, and then expand the perimeter from there. Hopefully providing at least part of the area with a full field checking to use for WCOC Winter Series events...
