shoes: Saucony Kinvara - July 2017

Recovery gears again. Plan A ended in my first fear-based refusal of the week. was surprised how i managed so well on monday but cant handle heights so well on my own... on the way to Glecksteinhutte the path is half way up a cliff face on a ledge about as wide as me, got a few 100m before i was shaking and hyperventilating and thought i should turn round incase i froze completely. so plan B, up to Grosse Sheidegg and along the gravel road to Schrekfeld and took the cablecar down to save my legs. so tired!

Running - easy long 3:45:00 [2]
shoes: Saucony Kinvara - July 2017

Top morning out! Into town (no bus for a while but meant it was straight after breakfast, so not going too quickly at least) then up to Männlichen summit with a good amount of hands on knee walking on the steep bits, round to kleine scheidegg, up to eiger gletscher (med loads of ANCO out running the other way, orienteers get everywhere!) and then back along the eiger trail. Taking it easy again and loving life until the last decent where my quads gave in. Give me uphills any day. Lots of stops for snacks and photos. Turned into a great day too!

Orienteering - easy 30:00 [2]
shoes: Inov-8 XTalon 212 April 2017

Today is the bad weather day so rearranged to stay off the tops (was going to do this on thurs) and took some active analysis of the middle race by re-running most of the course. had some extra planned but it was pishing down and once i got close to the start it was windy too, and in just a t-shirt i started to get a bit cold. so cut to get home a bit quicker but still did the important bits. testing some alternative route choices on a couple and trying to run other legs better than i did on saturday. good to run the section from 10 to 15 especially, this is where the middle distance stress kicked in (though the culmination of that was the biggest time loss from both route choice and hesitation at 16)... another memorable run, coming back on a footbridge across the steep beck on the way home, the volume and force of the water was incredible. definitely nothing coming back out of there alive.

otherwise a massive work project to be getting on with, so nice to keep it a bit shorter.

Running - easy 2:30:00 [1]
shoes: Saucony Kinvara - July 2017

So at some point last night i agreed to join some of the nogs for recovery training (like i ever need much persuading to go for a run) ... didnt know where we were going so just put some trainers on and expected 90min max, feeling a bit fuzzy round the edges and expected the others to be tired too. ended up run/hiking to Schreckhrnhutte, above a steep gorge and then at the end a glacier. path turned into a mountaineering path rather than a wanderweg, which meant it was smaller and more technical. if youve run up hills with me youll know im not mad keen on heights and lots of the route was above massive drops, then towards the top there were some bits pretty much up the cliff face with ladders and cables, absolutely shitting my pants there but managed to get past it :-) memorable run! out over 3hrs but some faffing about. Ă–ystein managed t get pretty much everything photographed, then fell on his phone, so we'll see if any of those materialise...
