shoes: Saucony Kinvara Feb 2018

morning jog
10 AM

Orienteering - hard 1:06:00 [4]

we travelled quite a bit to go to a mass start long race near Lorca. all classes starting together, which was a bit nuts. not quite confident to race properly over a longer distance yet, so i'm not sure it was much i4 (apart from where Josh was chasing me up the biggest hill and i was trying to save face haha), mostly drifting about. but that wasnt so bad because it was bushy and tricky. three "bad" legs but i managed to keep mainly in control. the race was about 2/3 butterfly loops and because the class was quite small, the only people i saw to run with were the men's classes, and i was never sure they were going for the same ones... but happily not too many sneaked in past me :-)

had to stop twice for my shoe and once for my hair.

Running - easy 5:00 [2]

all there was time for. not even a coffee either!
5 PM

Orienteering - easy 50:00 [2]

Orienteering - easy 1:05:00 [2]

after cleaning up at Casa Backlund for a bit this morning, made it to Santa Pola on the way to the airport to meet OKS. going slowly but mostly quite good. apart from the constant fear of doing an ankle or landing face first in a nest of poisonous larvae, it's quite a fun area :-)

Running - easy 15:00 [1]
shoes: Saucony Kinvara Feb 2018

morning jog and flexibility drills
11 AM

Orienteering - medium intervals 35:00 [3]

bit later, had to deliver a work project before i got out... on the central dunes area, "Cutillas" forest sprint and then JWOC course from 2002. my lungs aren't great today so not pushing too hard, but managed to find some good orienteering feeling most of the way. i had quite a bit of respect for the area after a disastrous camp champs last time i came here...

Running - easy 15:00 [2]

blister kicking off at the end too. nice to see euoc on my break between the courses! #britsabroad
5 PM

Orienteering - easy 45:00 [2]

Just more Norte. Trying to plan ahead enough to run through the controls, but keeping accuracy as first priority. Best ive been technically this year, getting back into the groove i hope! Lungs better too in the afternoon.

whoops, slept in. better late than never.
10 AM

Orienteering - easy 1:00:00 [2]

Up at the north end. Compass free again, focus on making such a solid plan that it was still okay. Caught out a couple of times, especially when the terrain was a bit bushier than i thought and id left it a bit late to look up.

Running - easy warm up/down 5:00 [2]

5 PM

Orienteering - easy 1:00:00 [2]

contour only. successful apart from two legs (to the same control in the phi arggh)

Running - easy 10:00 [2]

Still taking the recovery days seriously down here

Tuesday Feb 20, 2018 #

7 AM

Running - easy 18:00 [1]

morning jog and drills. throat developed as "usual", would it even be an Iberian training camp without a chesty cough?
11 AM

Orienteering - easy 55:00 [2]

Attempt 2 after driving back to torrevieja to get my map... Contour only with no compass, visualisation. Intense stuff! About 50% great, 45% quite good - okay, 5% #yiezmistake

Running - easy warm up/down 10:00 [2]

5 PM

Orienteering - hard intervals 40:00 [4]

More o-intervals. bit mixed again, especially not very good at all on the first, but mnaged to kick myself into gear more after that. distractions today were some scary dogs at one of my controls and getting a stick in my eye, actually lodged inside my eyelid, i looked like that picture of king harold on the bayeux tapestry haha. had to get a Kemp eye examintion on one of the recoveries but i think it will be fine, maybe a bit scratched. otherwise not too bad and not feeling ill, even the cough was only bad first thing today.

Running - easy warm up/down 25:00 [2]

Running - easy 15:00 [1]

Morning jog and drills
11 AM

Orienteering - easy 1:35:00 [1]

Went to an inland scragg plantation. Not feeling brilliant in my throat and coughing a bit, not sure if it's something i picked up on the flight or just some track hack after the dusty air yesterday. So just taking everything really easy today. Prefer the dunes to that terrain.
6 PM

Running - easy 35:00 [2]
shoes: Saucony Kinvara Feb 2018

Just an easy jog round punta prima. Followed by some self-locking french window drama and house breaking skills.
