A nice long run (actually three separate runs with a few minutes between each) with a map to test out some courses for Mum. A few times got a few problems from (I think) not drinking enough. Now trying to get back into a rhythm of training. This probably wasn't the bets way to start but I had the opportunity to do a long run (which are my favourite) so took it.

OK run. About a minute of mistakes on the first control (A bit in route choice, a bit in bad navigation) and missed the track after the dam to 5 (not sure of time loss here).

A little disappointed with the course. Nothing much difficult about the navigation and really fast running. Felt pretty strong running most of the time but made a few small errors that cost me in total >1 min. Definitely could have made up the 4 seconds to the person in front of me.

26th +6:00. Didn't quite have the preparation I wanted, but still happy with the result. Also a little bit sick.

Despite losing (I think) ~9:30 (mostly to #1 and 2, ~7:00), I'm pretty happy with this run. I managed to not get flustered by having two bad controls in a row, and calm down, and start again for the rest of the course. Other mistakes: #11 ~1:00 bad compass (control may have been a little too far south, others thought so too), #12 ~1:00 didn't quite hit the cliff line at the right place and then proceeded to stuff around for a while, #15 ~30 stayed in the gully instead of coming straight off the track, up onto the spur.

#16 -17 (just east of the start) managed to trip full length ("TIMBER!"), would have been quite funny for anyone who saw me.

Pretty good race. Crappy compass work out of #3 (luckily it was veering in the best direction to veer, i.e. straight into a fence, and still vaguely in the right direction) and lost concentration for a bit to #6 and then convinced myself I wasn't where I actually was, and originally thought I was.

Orienteering race (QBIII - Day 1) 21:12 [4] *** 3.1 km (6:50 / km)
19c shoes: Salomon S-Lab Fellcross 2

Started off well to #1 and 2. then lost concentration and lost 2 minutes to #3, finding #4, which was significantly further up the hill. The rest of the course was ok, with a few smaller mistakes among the better controls, the biggest being ~45 sec to #10, where I failed to notice a (quite noticeable) split in a gully.
