orienteering race 1:07:00 [3]

Doing just fine, loving the map and the woods, until going down to punch 10 ... and my right calf cramped. Stopped to hop around for a moment, then stretched ... tried to jog up to the trail and couldn't. Stopped to stretch again. Hobbled up the trail a little. Stretched again - it felt like it was stretching out, but then as soon as I started moving, walking or hobbling, it tightened up again. Limped my way along the trail, as the route to 11 was all along trails (so not even any navigation to distract me) - managed to jog a little on the flat along the minor trail with the terrific views! That was it though - my dad said he didn't even recognize me running in.
It stayed tight all evening and all the next day. Driving was not fun! Used a heating pad Saturday and Sunday, which helped I think. And stretched.

Overall, I am just trying very hard not to turn a cramp into a tear, as the marathon is in 2 weeks, and that is more important!!

Was going to do more, but Bridget came running down to say that Ethan was hurt. Turns out he had whacked a knee on a chair - not serious. But still one of those times when motherhood trumps training.
