My heart rate is coming down! That 'max' was just the usual initial spike so no biggie. My pace at 135 bpm has dropped from about 8:15 to 7:50.

commute home via Seattle Radiology to get an ultrasound on my hip/lower, right abdomen.

I was told I'm 'too fit' for a definitive diagnosis...?! I guess since I don't have a lot of fat in my gut and because I have lots of muscle in my lower abs when they see stuff move they have a hard time telling if it's muscle or a hernia. Lame! They did say that something was 'bulging' but they just were not sure. :(

I will talk to my doctor but I suspect I'll need a MRI which is more revealing than an ultrasound.

treadmill test

Today I went to the Polyclinic to see if this initial spike in heart rate I always get at the beginning of a workout was my body or my equipment. Turns out it's my equipment. I guess that's a good thing!

Things started with a VERY thorough heart ultrasound which was followed by a standard treadmill test. During the test I got no warm up and every three minutes the incline and speed were increased until I signaled I could not continue.

I lasted 21:31 and maxed out the treadmill at 22% while running 6 mph. Not sure what the total distance was.

I had an EKG strapped to me the while time which was a bit awkward but no mask like the VO2 Max test, whew!

Hernia. I have one.

After talking to my doctor and going over the ultrasound I had Friday I do have a small inguinal hernia on the right side.

I scheduled a consultation with a surgeon (surgery is the only permanent fix for this kind of hernia) for Wednesday and I'll know more then.

Urban Bike Path exploration

This was cool! I explored Beacon Hill and the paved trail under the power lines. There is so much to Seattle that I don't know about!
