Run 33:07 intensity: (30 @0) + (7:21 @1) + (25:11 @2) + (5 @3) 3.53 km (9:24 / km) +94m 8:18 / km

Cold evening run at RV Farm. Quite a bit of this on the narrow bike trails. While some were just snowshoed in (which had set up quite nicely), some had been groomed with a snowdog - very short track snow machine in front with the operator on an articulated platform just behind. Grooms about a 20" wide track that sets up nice and firm. Great for fat bikes and for running with studded shoes.

XC Ski - Skate long 2:40:55 intensity: (4:56 @0) + (23:10 @1) + (1:55:37 @2) + (17:12 @3) 28.74 km (5:36 / km) +380m 5:15 / km

Very long ski at Green Woodlands - parked at the Rt 218 lot and headed up the Dorchester connector. Some sketchy sections grooming-wise with larger chunks of crust and some ridges where they took corners too fast.
No steep uphills anywhere, just a lot of longer gentle uphills that took their toll.
Did the Cummins Pond Loop, plus the Carriage Loop. Considered adding in the Mudgett's Pond Loop, but I was still over 10k from parking and at that junction it was uphill onto Mudgett's and downhill to continue on the Carriage Loop - downhill won.
GU'ed up a couple of times and when those kicked in felt a lot better and was able to get some technique back. Ecstatic that the Dorchester connector was mostly gentle downhill - could move right along with not too much energy - tank was running very low.
Enough plodders out there that I felt like I was doing well, and more than enough really good skiers in really good shape to make me feel my age as they zipped right on by.

Nice crisp conditions - good to decompress.
Mostly cloudy tonight - wish I'd pulled together the energy yesterday to get out last night with a full moon and clear skies.

XC Ski - Skate warm up/down 7:33 intensity: (32 @0) + (25 @1) + (6:18 @2) + (18 @3) 1.61 km (4:42 / km) +2m 4:41 / km
ahr:133 max:142 shoes: '18 Salomon Equipe RS-192

Quick ski around the flat parts to see how the skis were and to get the legs warmed up a bit.

Ski-O race 1:36:03 intensity: (13 @0) + (3:42 @1) + (42:41 @2) + (49:27 @3) 18.03 km (5:20 / km) +281m 4:57 / km

Most excellent long ski-O set by Adrian. 2 maps.
Started a few minutes behind Ken, should have taken more notice of when he started and left more of a gap. Was chasing him, mostly unsuccessfully, Caught sight of him close to 3, then struggled up the hills to 4. I went left to 6, Ken went right - about the same time, then I took a bad route to 7 that involved about 80m of bushwhacking, think I lost a minute or so. Suffered back up the first part of same hill I took 3-4.
Second map - going from 11-12, saw Ken coming back at me as he came out of 12. Wasn't sure why he went that way. Nice downhill out of 12, but what goes down has to come back up again. I had a few hundred meters on him at 13. Lost sight of him for a few controls. Nice screaming downhill from 17-18, but knew I was going to be coming right back up that same trail. Fortunately it wasn't a consistent up, but was still struggling on the steeper parts. Ken coming into the short narrow trail to 19 as I was heading out of it. Nice downhill on the way to 20, but again, what goes down has to come back up.
Managed to stay ahead of Ken, but not by much...

XC Ski - Skate warm up/down 25:55 intensity: (39 @0) + (5:39 @1) + (17:20 @2) + (2:17 @3) 4.81 km (5:23 / km) +32m 5:13 / km
ahr:132 max:144 shoes: Atomic Red Cheetahs

Quick bite, dry gloves and see if the other skis would have been better.
Nope, used the better pair for the race.

ahr:138 max:154 shoes: '02 Peltonen Skate Skis

Very nice conditions, quite a few folks out.
I need to re-learn to not have a big breakfast if I want to go out and have fun on the trails - butt was dragging most of the time.

ahr:126 max:139 shoes: Arctic Claw 300

Slow evening outing at Ramblin Vewe - felt better when I finished than when I started. Goal accomplished.
They'd pulled some sort of drag around the main trails, so the ice and crust was chopped up a bit and the high points knocked down - made the footing a lot better.

Ski-O race 52:17 intensity: (4 @0) + (10 @1) + (4:38 @2) + (39:02 @3) + (8:23 @4) 6.68 km (7:50 / km) +94m 7:19 / km
ahr:150 max:159 shoes: Atomic Red Cheetahs

Score-O style ski-O at Ohana Camp.
Nice trail network. Variable snow conditions - chopped up ice from the thaw-rain-freeze, that was mostly hard and fast, with only a few spots that were dicey. Took a few spills from catching an edge, off balance, etc.
Cleared the course with 7 minutes to spare. Good turnout.

3 PM

XC Ski - Skate 30:14 intensity: (17 @0) + (42 @1) + (11:04 @2) + (18:11 @3) 5.53 km (5:28 / km) +73m 5:08 / km
ahr:142 max:151 shoes: Atomic Red Cheetahs

Stopped at Green Woodlands on my way back - first heard about this earlier this winter. Impressive trail network - wish conditions had been better- hard, choppy granular - but pretty good given what they had to work with. Parking lot was glare ice, other than where they'd run the groomer around in an attempt to chip it up a bit.
Tired and little energy - so wasn't up for a long ski - mind was tempted, but body said no.
Need to get back over here after a good powder dump.

ahr:135 max:151 shoes: Arctic Claw 300

Weeks Woods - figure 8 loops, slow. Uneven footing on snow that was starting to crisp back up after a couple of days of warmer.
Favoring my left knee that I tweaked skiing on Sunday, but seems OK running with straight back and forth motion. Twisting is more problematic.

ahr:144 max:156 shoes: '10 Salomon Equipe 8 Skate Ski

Back from Denver and a week of full-time grandfathering.
Skis were slow and I was slow after a pretty slow week with not much working out.
Should have rewaxed with a slightly cooler wax, or different skis, or both.

Or just go out with what I have and do something - which I did.

Downhill Ski 1:05:30 intensity: (58:07 @0) + (6:07 @1) + (1:16 @3) 20.37 km (18.7 kph) +1744m
ahr:92 max:124 (injured)

Then over to the downhill slopes for a couple of hours - most of the Sunday crowd had gone home in anticipation of the Super Bowl.

Good times.
