Was going to be a trail run, but got sidetracked with looking at some possibilities for some additional ski-O tracks. Flagged some existing trails that haven't been used for a few years and are less obvious, even to me.
Pondering some more changes in a few places are needed.
Also got sidetracked following some bear tracks from the knoll above Maple - wandered around up top, then dropped down across Maple near the cutover to Birch, then lost it going down along the marshy area.

Back at Ahern - been a while.
Mostly on Mt bike trails - lots of twists and turns.

Walking 4:49:12 [1] 7.77 km (37:14 / km) +93m 35:08 / km

Trail work at Gunstock - checking existing ski-O trails and adding a few more sections here and there. Some blow-downs larger than I was interested in moving resulted in some re-routes and one section that won't be used this winter, unless I find a way around it later.

From Glidden / Clough Road up to the saddle, then trail work on the Quarry Trail - mostly trimming back boughs and cleaning up stubs left from earlier work. Cold and breezy, started spitting snow. Pretty wet from overnight, but stayed warm.
Not a fan of some of the cliff climbs the trail takes - good if you're up for an adventure, but not suitable for all hikers or all weather conditions.
Didn't make it all the way to where the new Reed Road trail hits the saddle - was getting closer to sundown. Had a headlamp with me, but wasn't mentally up for the adventure of running back down at dusk even with that.
Took the ATV trail that splits off east close to the turn - ends up over on the Reed Rd extension just a few hundred meters above the gate - must all be SPNHF land, as they now have it posted no motorized wheeled vehicles.
Took the old Class VI road just below the gate back up to the Clough Rd parking.

Hiking 3:05:43 [1] 6.78 km (27:23 / km) +379m 21:24 / km

New trail from Reed Road off 11-A. Follows logging road for a bit, then heads up through an area of skidder tracks, with quite a few small switchbacks.
Looks like they dug up much of the tuff, but didn't get down to gravel, so I'm expecting there will be a lot of mud come spring.
Hits the Quarry Trail in the saddle between E and W Quarry. Did some brush clearing over to the base of the climb up to Straightback - just ran completely out of steam. Not sure if it was that I'd only had an apple, or was getting dehydrated, or coming down with something. Took a break, sitting and sipping water and downing some trail mix - things seemed to equalize enough that I made it down with no issues - other than my hip.

1 tick pulled off my thigh before he had a chance to dig in - last warm day for a while, so this should become less of a problem.

Right hip is bugging me - certain motions are getting more painful. Flat ground seems ok, but ups and downs seem to aggravate it. Remembering some minor issue last winter with skate-skiing - will be more aware of it this winter, I'm sure.

Weeks Woods. Been laid up with a cold since Sunday - needed to get out and do something - decided low speed would work best

Hiking 4:56:01 [1] 13.34 km (22:12 / km) +634m 17:56 / km

Hike in the Belknaps Camp Bell - Old Stage Road, up the west leg of the (aptly named) Precipice Path to the BRT - juniper clearing on the approach to Anna, then some more on the approach to Mack. Down the Orange Mack Ridge Trail - gap in the blazes for part of that and needs some cutting back in a few sections. Treacherous descent down the rock slide - a lot of leaves over rocks.

headlamp meander at Gunstock - trying to follow my snowshoe/ski-O trails with mixed results.

Need to be up there in daylight with clippers and a handsaw, as well as re-flag sections

Headlamp run at RV Farms - cool, but no wind. One car in the lot, but didn't see anyone out there.

Hiking 55:30 [1] 3.64 km (15:16 / km) +79m 13:46 / km

short walk on the new post-logging trails at Weeks Woods.
Area goes further than I thought it did - some nice sections and some a bit blah.
Guess I hit split instead of end before I got in the truck.

Run / hike 51:18 intensity: (12:03 @0) + (6:46 @1) + (11:55 @2) + (20:34 @3) 6.51 km (7:53 / km) +64m 7:31 / km
ahr:130 max:152 shoes: New Balance 882

Pavement "run" - minimal energy. Checked out the newest section of the WOW trail - all paved and the bridges are close to finished.
Warmer than I expected - a bit over dressed.
Right hip a bit sore - stride/gait felt uneven.
