Been too long since my last run. Felt it - and will feel it tomorrow.
Got out to the newly logged section below Darcy's Field - not as wet as I thought it would be, even with the 4" of rain in the last couple days.
They've also put down a good layer of crushed rock along parts of Quarry and past the 5-way junction. Segway tours starting tomorrow, along with the new things for this year e-bikes.
Zip lines, Mtn coaster and the aerial treetop adventures closed for this year

Warm, but much more pleasant than I was expecting. Not too humid, nice breeze, even down at ground level. Only a few mosquitoes.

A long hike in to the section I wanted to fill in. Then lots of up (and down).

Haven't been biking for a while, so figured, why not? Decided to check out the logging at Gunstock. So far, minimal impact to the map from this 2nd round. They cut back a few trees along Cobble from the maintenance yard up to where it heads S on Birch then down to Darcy's Field. Some big equipment there. Trail cleared down to what I thought was (and had mapped as) nasty impenetrable marshland. Guess I was wrong, at least about the marshy part. They've clear cut all the crap. Apparently there was some timber in there of some value.
Word is that they might be logging another section W of there on the other side of the stream - parts of that had been reasonably nice forest. We'll see what we're left with when it's all done. Heard they might finally replace the bridge that crosses the stream halfway up to the old logging landing. Groomer broke the bridge a couple years back. The fact that it wasn't replaced for last season as indicative of their low interest in investing in the XC side of things.

Might be nice if, come winter time, they put a loop out in the new cleared area.

More traipsing around. Found a trail as I was wandering around on the NE facing hillside - the section of the Cross-Rivendell that comes over the summit and down to the Class VI road that is the NE boundary for the Foundation property. Some much thicker sections lower down, much slower (and less fun) mapping those areas than the more wide open with interesting features areas.

Hung a few more streamers of potential control locations for a score-O or course of varying degrees of technical and physical challenge.

Out on Opechee just before sunset. Light breeze at my back heading over towards the Lakeport dam, then in my face heading back in.
Warm and on the muggy side.
Then back home and back to work on my presentation for the morning.

Trail run with the mosquitoes.
This should be next on my list of local neat spots to have a map of.

In from the logging landing on the NW edge. That section is just tough to get through. Lots of witch hazel sprouting up along the main loop 'road'.

First trail run of any substance in a while. Got in some nice elevation heading up the Overlook Trail, but boy, that trail is rocky in places. Right calf was cramping a bit as I approached the summit - downed a Gu with water, took a short break to take in this sights and it was fine going back down.
Right hip was getting sore heading up, but when I got home, the left one was feeling abused.
Saw 3 people and 2 dogs. Flushed a ruffed grouse on the way up - it put on quite an act to pull me away from its nest

Up the steeper trail to the summit of Lockes Hill. Pretty bland top, variable vegetation from a runnability and visibility perspective.
One runner out there doing laps in the fading light - up the quarry trail and down the steeper side.
Lower trail is in bad shape - switchbacks have been shortcut so much that the shortcuts are more visible and traveled than the real trail - with resulting erosion.
