Run tempo (trails) 34:00 [3] 5.0 km (6:48 / km) +70m 6:21 / km

Well, it was going to be a nice gentle evening run at a relaxed pace. Felt pretty relaxed throughout, except when I was motoring up the big hill on the Ahern loop trail. Backed off the pace a bit heading S on the trail to the industrial park, but I thnk I picked back up again when I took off ontot he narrow winding bike trails.

Almost lost the trail a few times as it was getting dark, and there's a lot of new leaves down, making the trail hard to see. Came back along the powerline, where I thought there was a trail. There used to be one there, but it seems to have disappeared and been grown over with ferns and small bushes. There is still plenty of wet spots hidden under stuff though.

Exer Bike intervals 24:00 intensity: (5:00 @1) + (10:00 @2) + (5:00 @3) + (4:00 @4)
ahr:125 max:153

Forgot how tough it can be on an exercise bike - overall lower heartrate than running, but my legs were burning.

Mapping 40:00 [1] ***
ahr:94 max:132 shoes: Inov-8 MudClaws

Adding the newly cut ski trails onto the base map - still need to tansfer over to the slimmed down trail map. Quick chat with Nina - doesn't sound like they;re going to be cutting the two new trails around the west side of Cobble this fall - maybe next year.

Run intervals (trails) 50:00 intensity: (25:15 @2) + (15:45 @3) + (9:00 @5) 6.0 km (8:20 / km) +130m 7:31 / km
ahr:149 max:169 shoes: Inov-8 MudClaws

Intervals on the bike trails at Ahern.

12 x 70 - 75 paces (45-50 seconds each) on a 3 minute cycle.

Pretty variable speed, as some of the sections of bike trail have a lot of twists and turns. Good practice for running through woods at high speeds with a lot of directional changes. Almost lost the trail a few times - a lot of leaves down, obscuring the trail and making for slick footing on hills.

Lots of dog walkers out today.

Upper Body (raking leaves) 1:00:00 [1]

moving fallen leaves around the yard.

Really feeling it in my arms.

Note

Replacing 5 windows in the sun room. Had bought the windows earlier this year, just never got around to putting them in.

WIth the approach of colder weather and a couple of days with cold stiff winds that were coming in around and through the 55-year old original windows, I thought it was time. Three more to do in the dining room, and then at some point, put in a bay window in the living room.

Run hills (trails) 33:00 [3]
ahr:149 max:163 shoes: Asics Orange Trail 08

At Gunstock. Got an email from Andy Howe that he and Igor had feen working on trails and had completed the ones I'd had on the map in dashed blue. Didn't have a lot fo time before it was going to get dark, but they look pretty nice. Some nice swooping turns and a couple of good climbs.

AOWN - saw a large flock of turkeys that scattered up into the woods. After I saw them climbed up a bit on the older trails higher on Cobble and as I was coming down from them about 3 turkeys flew off from where they'd been roosting in trees right beside the trail.

No work yet on the two new trails around the west side of Cobble, but they're getting close to that section - I assume they'll just keep going and do those also.
