Running at Ahern - State School Campus. GPSing in some of the open area boundaries to see how well they match with the photos (unknown date).
Spooked a tom turkey and a fox/coyote.

Working on a segment of the state school campus - base map in better shape than I thought, other than the contours and some vegetation boundaries.

Ticks out in full force - must have pulled 2 dozen off me, mostly wood ticks, but a couple deer ticks as well.

Hiking on the W side of Gunstock - some trail work and scouting out possibilities for new trail.

Cold and breezy - patches of snow at higher elevations - must have been cold last night.

Easy run at RV Farms. Saw a couple running with a dog, a mtn biker, then when coming back on a mtn bike trail,the same biker chatting with an older guy working on the trail. NEMBA t-shirt - good effort on the trails.

Not particularly long or fast or inspired, but it was warm and I did get out to start the acclimatizing process.
Knees a bit sore- too much pounding coming down from Gunstock maybe. Also lower back is a bit tentative - need to make sure I'm well warmed up before running this weekend.

5.6 km Green course at College Woods - nice course. variable woods.

Lower back was acting up, so was running funny for a while until I warmed up. HR really didn't get that high - not really focused or pushing it.

Alar was 54 min, Bob Lux around 57. With some better route choice and more get up and go, should have been down closer to 50.

Trail run at Gunstock - main parking lot over to the base of the ski jumps, then up Rollercoaster. Took the zig-zags up, then along the ridge to Rowe. Through the saddle to near the top of the Tiger lift, then did some bushwhacking to the right of the ski trail to see if I could find a good route for the new trail. Some possibilities, but also some areas to stay away from. Cut back over and up, did the last bit to the summit on the ski slope. Down the Brook trail & Saddle Trail to Overlook. Fond a couple and their dog within a couple hundred yards of the trail junction - had lost the trail in the last part of the reentrant. Needs some raking to let the treadway stand out and some blazes need refreshing. Met 3 more folks much lower on Outlook, just below the outlooks. A couple of good sized trees down blocking the trail close to where it hits the XC trails - will take a crew an hour or so to clear it.

Garmin battery died somewhere on top of Rowe - rest of the distance and climb is estimated.

Field checking some map corrections at Gunstock - around the base lodge as well as where the logging took place near the Cobble Mtn - Birch trail connectors. Some more to do - vegetation has changed considerably over the years.

Warm, but not overly so - need to get acclimated before it gets to real summer.
