Orienteering race 1:47:46 [3] **** 8.5 km (12:41 / km) +150m 11:39 / km
ahr:148 max:168 spiked:10/13c shoes: Falcon spikes 2007

Blue course at Sargent Camp, set by JJ. GPS distance traveled 10.6 km.
Wet woods, had been raining prior and had a few showers (or possible just wind knocking water off the leaves) off and on throughout.
#1 was mishung by about 85m, lost about 5 min there. Wore my contacts so I would be able to see, was concerned about water on my glasses. Need to get the prescription checked, my near vision eye is over-corrected, so it was fuzzy. Also, magnifier mounted on my thumb comass was of little value with the water on it. Woudl probably have been better off wearing glasses.
Wandered too far left of the line from 2-3, hit #9 on the way, resulting in about 30 m unneeded climb.
Completely blew #10, not paying attention to my compass crossing 200m+ bland area, wandered too far north, went around the north end of a marsh I thought I was going south of, but was able to make enough stuff fit, to include an attackpoint, that I was pretty flustered when the control and the boulder it was supposed to be on, weren't were I thought they should be.
After I recovered from that, fell and smacked my left knee pretty good going into # 12.

Elliptical trnr 24:00 [2]
shoes: Brooks

At the hotel - too much time on the road. Feel like I'm turning into a weekend warrior - nothing during the week and trying to cram it all into the weekends, along with grandkid time.

Run long (Trail) 4:30:00 [3] ** 21.0 km (12:51 / km) +950m 10:29 / km
ahr:137 max:167 shoes: Inov-8 MudClaws

Trail run/walk. From the Bickford road trail head, up the fire road to the top, back and forth a couple time to find/confirm the dotted trail, then cut up to the Round Pond link. Looking for the next dotted trail to the top of Suncook Mtn but couldn't locate it. Finally bushwacked from the high point on the link trail up to the top and found the intermittent trail near the summit. Not much of a trail - figured out the best approach is to spot the old flagging pieces that looked to be a couple years old at least. Had to do some casting about when I lost the trail to find the next piece of flagging. Dropped down the SE side of the mtn to the cascade - a neat spot. Worked my way up it and followed a few sections of intermittent trail until it linked up with the Red Tr. From the SE corner of Round Pond, up to Mt Mack. Debated just cutting over to Klem, but got foolish and decided to hit Mt Anna, West Quarry Mtn, Rand Mtn, Mt Klem, back to te NE side of Round Pond. Was going to take the green trail down to the Grant Rd trailhead and run roads back tot he car, but realized I'd dropped my hat somewhere along the fire road and wanted to get it. So back along the Round Pond Link towards Belknap, cut across on the dotted trail and back down the fire road.

Was concerned that I might be running out of water, so was taking it easy on the last third. Was bonking pretty hard coing up Rand and Klem. Called Beth and gave her a progress report when I became apparent that I wasn't going to be back when I thought.
