Run / hike hills 1:20:00 [3] 9.09 km (8:48 / km) +425m 7:08 / km
ahr:156 max:168 shoes: Asics Orange Trail 08

From the main Gunstock parking lot, south XC trails, checkign out the trail work underway, up to the old logging staging area, then double back and up the indistinct trail that links to the Sidearm trail at the dogleg, then up to Tinderbox and Gunpowder. Took the Brook trail for a change in footing from knee high grass and other stuff to rocks and roots. Ran a few sections on the uphills, but a lot of walking.

Up and over the top of Gunstock, down Flintlock and Trigger Chute to the snowshoe / hiking trail over to Mt Rowe. Came down the Try Me trail, very steep got a good negative workout on my quads.

Surprised that there are still some blueberries on the bushes - would have thought they'd be gone by now. Maybe another picking session with a small guy this weekend.

Hiking 2:00:00 [1] 3.6 mi (33:20 / mi) +200m 28:26 / mi
shoes: Gray Nike XCR

Fishing with my father-in-law Jim.

Dry River Trail to the bridge, fished down to the 2d crossing, then back to the car.
Water down to normal range from all the earlier rain this summer. Not low by any means, just back into the normal range. Was probably 18" higher a month ago, judging from things like the downed tree I sccooted across the river on earlier that was right at water level on the low end. Both ends high and dry now.

Not much left of the moose skeleton just above the bridge - looks like a lot of it got washed away by high water. Saw one chunk of a leg bone way downstream.

Kayaking 1:00:00 [1]

Put in at the new boat launch, then up river to the Seymour's site against a pretty strong current.

Turned around and came back down a lot faster than I went up. Continued down onto Winnisquam, headed north to the 2 small islands, then back.

AOWN- spooked up a heron a couple of times in the island in the middle of the river. Second time it took off it circled for just a bit then perched up in a tree - didn't think herons did trees - just land and water.

Kayaking 36:00 [1]
ahr:90 max:104

On Opeche just before dusk.

Pretty calm, a few big birds floating around.

Still a lot of water coming through from Paugus Bay - lots of turmoil just below the dam.

Run hills (trails) 50:30 [3] 6.93 km (7:17 / km) +240m 6:13 / km
ahr:154 max:168 shoes: Asics Orange Trail 08

Up and over Cobble Mtn, then checked out the south trails. Some logging or trail widening underway along 9 - not too sure why as it wasn't too bad. Am wondering if they are going to mess with the tight S curve, or add some more trails in this area. Hadn't heard about any of this, but that's not surprising. No work yet on continuing the new trail on the N side of Cobble or the 2 new connectors along the W slope.

Cold front came through today and dried stuff out. Was cool and crisp - almost felt fall like.
