Hiking 3:00:00 [1] ** 8.0 km (22:30 / km) +600m 16:22 / km
ahr:104 max:130 shoes: Merrell Radius Hikers

Gunstock, Belknap, Piper loop from the base of the Carriage Road, clockwise. Met 10 people, 2 dogs.
Overcast and cool at the bottom, snow/sleet/rain/crap dropping from trees higher up.
Belknap lookout tower was iced up - still nice views. Clouds had lifted enough so the lake was visible - couldn't see Washington though.

Tried out adjustable hiking poles - not sure if I like them or not. Seemed helpful on the steep downhill sections in maintaining balance and not going ass over teakettle on some of the icy rocks, minorly helpful on the steep uphills. Might be different if I had a full overnight pack on instaed of a light day pack. Like that I can collapse them and tuck them into a side pocket on the pack when I don't need/want them.
