XC Ski - Skate warm up/down 8:29 intensity: (1:49 @0) + (2:20 @1) + (4:20 @2) 1.49 km (5:43 / km) +25m 5:16 / km
ahr:124 max:140 shoes: '10 Salomon Equipe 8 Skate Ski

Quick warm up to check how the skis were running - it's a go.

Ski-O race 51:27 intensity: (19 @0) + (2:40 @1) + (19:35 @2) + (28:53 @3) 7.4 km (6:57 / km) +176m 6:13 / km
ahr:141 max:155 shoes: '10 Salomon Equipe 8 Skate Ski

A few bobbles - mostly mine, a couple due to incorrect interpretations of the map.

XC Ski - Skate warm up/down 46:01 intensity: (2:12 @0) + (7:22 @1) + (27:55 @2) + (8:32 @3) 7.3 km (6:18 / km) +161m 5:41 / km
ahr:133 max:155 shoes: '10 Salomon Equipe 8 Skate Ski

Skiing around afterwards - relaxed and having fun, until I ran out of legs.

ahr:82 max:126

Short distance ski with the kids - out Quiver and back along Longbow, then up and down the final Cobble hill a couple of times.
Slightly longer skis for Ryan seemed to work better, still a few spills but better control.

Upper Body 30:00 [1]

Clearing snow from everywhere - a bit of blowing and drifting. Nice and light though - nothing like the last storm.
2 PM

XC Ski - Classic 1:05:06 intensity: (11:48 @0) + (5:55 @1) + (30:34 @2) + (16:49 @3) 8.88 km (7:20 / km) +169m 6:42 / km
ahr:128 max:151 shoes: '07 Fischer Classic White-Yell

Worked a half-day in hopes it would warm up a bit and it did - got up to 7 or 8 F. Groomers were busy overnight - and Neal had set track on many of the more likely trails.
Swix Green hard wax day, and the coldest glide wax - was still rather slow, but a lot of fun.
Track set all the way down the Cobble Mtn S-curve - took it at speed. A blast, but my eyes were tearing up from the cold.

Beard is good for building up an ice layer to shield chin and cheeks from the wind, as well as a long snotcicle right under my nose.

Buzzing around Gunstock once it warmed up a bit.
Some sections very nice, others still sub-par.
2 PM

XC Ski - Skate 1:15:17 intensity: (1:15:13 @0) + (4 @1) 2.27 km (33:14 / km) +28m 31:18 / km
ahr:88 max:115 shoes: '05 White/Red/Black Fischer Sk

Goofing around at Gunstock with Ryan and Jen.
Some frustration, but overall good progress and improvement.

XC Ski - Classic 49:41 intensity: (49 @0) + (1:06 @1) + (23:58 @2) + (23:48 @3) 7.94 km (6:15 / km) +152m 5:42 / km

They'd only set track on a few of the close-in race trails. Was hoping Birch and Oak were set, but no.

Had a blast anyways.

A bit disappointed in the grooming overall. They've track packed most, but didn't leave it in a skiable condition. Shortage of manpower or time, equipment issues, or does it need to drain more or have more snow depth before they can get it to where it should be?

4 PM

XC Ski - Skate 15:00 [1] 1.0 km (15:00 / km)
shoes: '05 White/Red/Black Fischer Sk

Putzing around with the kids at the initial session for the GNA kids program - Ryan and Jen had a blast, as did I.

Upper Body 45:00 [1]

Clearing the driveway of some awful crap - heavy wet junk. Did a lot of it by hand figuring that the snowblower would just clog up and bog down.
Neighbors came out and were using their snowblower, so gave it a shot for the plow pile and the back yard trails - did OK.
1 PM

XC Ski - Skate long 1:25:50 intensity: (1:54 @0) + (6:06 @1) + (39:12 @2) + (38:34 @3) + (4 @4) 16.14 km (5:19 / km) +282m 4:53 / km
ahr:139 max:156 shoes: '02 Peltonen Skate Skis

Gunstock in early afternoon - things were starting to cool down (finally) after some heavy wet snow and other wetter crap overnight.
Only got a couple of inches at the house, but the Gunstock website was claiming 7". Might have been that at the summit, a bit less on the XC trail I think.
Saw Neal as I was heading out - they'd track packed a lot and then rolled some, but heading out around Cobble, it was lumpy and glazed - looks like a lot of folks had been out on it. Long downhill by the pond was a bit better, with Birch better still. The part of Oak dropping down along the stream was narrow and uneven - better up than down.
Went down the big Cobble S-curve, around a beginner wipeout near the bottom, then left onto Maple partway up to the cutover, then did the Birch-Oak loop in reverse.
Was going for 90 minutes or 15 km - finished up with a loop around Cobble.
Should be great tomorrow once they've tilled it with the cat.
