Awesome conditions at Gunstock - well groomed, hard pack and fast. Just below freezing, with parts in the sun warming up and a bit wetter than the rest, but not all soft and mushy.

Hit every trail on the S end, was thinking about getting all the trails on the N side of Cobble as well, but Ryan was waiting for me to pick him up to ski again.

And back at Gunstock with Ryan. Opted for my back country skis as better suited for a slow ski and chat. Mostly on the flatter lanes side - just a couple of small downhills on the Brook Trail that Ryan had fun on - let it run and go fast.
We went around the boardwalk snowshoe trail. Getting off the groomed trail made him a bit nervous at first, but did great. Stopped and had a snack on one of the benches, and looked at the deep snow right beside the bit of the stream that was open.
After finishing that loop, he wanted to do the hill across the road from the XC center, so we took our skis off, crossed the road, skied up, then blazed down. There's a short break in the tracks where a trail comes in from the side. He was in both tracks for the first part, then he ended up with his left ski in the right track and his right ski on the corduroy. Didn't faze him - stayed upright and having a blast to the bottom.

Had to do it again, so back up, let me go down first to video his downhill triumph - arms in the air and all.

Skiing around Cobble Mtn with Ryan. Chatting and having a ball the whole way. He was hustling some of the uphills pretty well. Good snowplow on the downhills and some phenomenal grins when things got going a bit faster than he was comfortable with but kept upright.

Was ready for hot chocolate at Grammy's when we got back to the car.

Run 33:06 intensity: (15 @0) + (55 @1) + (1:10 @2) + (28:50 @3) + (1:56 @4) 5.26 km (6:17 / km) +79m 5:51 / km

Remembering that the West Point A-Meet is in 3 weeks, decided that doing something other than skiing would be in my longer-term best interest.

Kept it easy to let my foot get re-acclimated to this kind of movement - could feel it throughout, but not painful.

Will be glad when the snow melts off the trails and they dry out - road runs are boring.

And forgot to turn the GPS back on, so no track.

4-6" of very wet snow. Hadn't groomed, assume they want to let it dry out before getting it set for the weekend. A few folks have been out.

Skating was tough, but glide was surprisingly adequate.
