First run in quite a while. RV Farms on well packed trails. Some have been groomed with an ATV pulling a sled, with other trails just from foot & snowshoe traffic.
Beautiful day out.

Ski-O race 26:45 [3] 3.8 km (7:02 / km)
shoes: '10 Salomon Equipe 8 Skate Ski

Ski-O at Ken's Kingdom Valley Trails.
Started off on the long course - 12 controls, and a lot of climb. Legs weren't coordinating well with the arms, so I was struggling on all the narrow uphills.

Ed got me by over a minute and a half.

Ski-O race 11:46 [3] 2.0 km (5:53 / km)

Then the short sprint. A couple minor bobbles and a good wipe out at the bottom of a hill I shouldn't have tried to ski down - took to long to untangle myself and get my skis under me to climb up the wall.

Just under a minute behind Ed.

Ski-O race 23:20 [3] 3.2 km (7:17 / km)
shoes: Inov-8 OROC 280

Finished up with the middle length, with Phil and Ed starting a bit in front of me.
Could see both of them as I was climbing back up the hill, but with the switchbacks hard to see if I was catching up or losing time. Felt a bit better working up the hills, but Ed got me by over 2 minutes on this one.

Evening outing at Gunstock. Some wicked fun downhills. Didn't quite get up to 40 km/hr - not icy and slick, just nice hard packed powder. Managed to survive the uphills - embrace the suck!
Quite a few critter footprints out there. Some appeared to be a good sized cat, the regular porcupine trails and a couple spots where deer had taken advantage of the hard packed grooming before heading back into the belly deep powder.
Starting to snow lightly as I was coming in - another beautiful evening.

Loop around Cobble as a warm up, then was going to re-do yesterday's race.
While not everything was groomed after last nights snowfall, only ~2" of nice powder over well groomed base was not a problem. Breezy but moderate temps.
Mostly OK on the hills, but not a lot of oomph. More than yesterday, but still not what I was hoping for. just over 11:00 for the lap - so I was dogging it a bit.
Coming down the last big hill from Crossbow to lower Broadhead and my headlamp went out. Enough moonlight to see, and finished the lap OK, tried to swap over to the other battery, but it wasn't cooperating. Opted for a shorter out and back enjoying the moonlight and called it a day.

When I pulled into the parking area, there was a County sheriff's car sitting there. Have never seen them hanging around Gunstock before, but it is a county facility. Was waiting to get the "who are you and what are you doing here? Don't you know they close at 4:00?" Instead nothing but a smile and a wave as he drove off. 20 seconds later a Gunstock truck pulls up, the night security guy just checking all the doors. Have been spoken to by them in year's past, but again just a smile and wave as I headed across the street and put on my skis.
