Last day of the XC season at Gunstock, but opted for a trail run in the snow instead (snow will still be on the XC trails, even though they're "closed).
Bit of a breeze and cool, but snow had firmed up nicely overnight, so very little post holing. Up Mt Rowe Trail, then the upper part of the Benjamin Weeks and over on the S fork, took the snowshoe trail to Rowe ridge, then to the towers. Magnificent views in every direction.
Back down the yellow trail - branches were trimmed for summer hiking, not an extra 2' of snow, so was ducking branches now and then. Some hard ice on the steepest sections, but overall good footing. Glad I had on my OROC 280s - studs were handy on the ice and the rubbers lugs were great on the softer stuff. Feet were soaked but not too cold at the end - glad for wool/poly socks.

64f when I left the house, but still snow on the trails. A lot of crap on top in places - chewed up needles, scraps of branches, cones, etc that the groomers have been churning all winter.
Rubbed on some T5 moly, which seemed to work, although it didn't help much on the dirtier sections.
