Cobble Mtn area - up to summit, down the SSW slope and around the E side
Bare ground in many places, particularly in the sun. 1-2" of sleet has set up nicely in the shade and N facing slopes - fills in the spaces between many of the boulders and allows great grip with studded shoes.

Skiing on hard and fast conditions at Gunstock - Quiver, Longbow, down the power line hill past the clubhouse, and up to the middle of the stadium by the snow pile. A few very thin spots, and some sections where the ice was scratched up, but the corn wasn't really bonded to it.
They'd also done part of the Chute, so could cut from the end of the stadium to the middle of Longbow.
A few other skiers out, several snowshoers (snowshoes were really superfluous today) and some fat bikers.

Mapping 2:33:48 intensity: (2:33:38 @0) + (10 @3) 4.2 km (36:37 / km) +223m 28:57 / km

Trying to finish up the N slope of Cobble Mtn - above Crossbow. Back and forth working my way gradually uphill.
Not a lot of features - wonder if those got bulldozed out when this was a ski hill, or it became a ski hill because there wasn't much rock in that section.
A couple of nice small spurs with almost bare rock. Maybe some rake work to clean off the leaves and needles to uncover the mappable feature, or is that not kosher???
A lot of deer sign - some other tracks that were harder to figure out what they were - melted out the finer details.

Mtn Bike 17:05 [2] 2.45 km (6:58 / km) +71m 6:05 / km
shoes: Reid Hercules Green bike

From Gunstock XC center out to the south end - figured I'd add some fat biking to my mapping outing.
Uphills when not warmed up - gasping for air.
Warm temps and rain really took a toll on the snow - spun out on a couple of spots that had turned to glare ice. Surface was mostly uneven enough, or with a very light dusting of powder that bonded to the ice, so traction was OK in most places.

Mapping 3:27:09 [0] 5.1 km (40:39 / km) +201m 33:58 / km
shoes: Arctic Claw 300

S side of the Pistol ridge and the opposite slope.
Snow was firm enough that I really wasn't breaking through. Glad I had the Arctic Claws - some icy spots, especially crossing the brooks.

Mtn Bike 12:10 [1] 2.61 km (4:39 / km)
shoes: Reid Hercules Green bike

And back down - took it easy on the swooping downhills - not sure what there'd be around the corners. Maple S curve had ice all the way across it at the hairy part - with a slot from the flow of the melt - locked in my front tire. Gracefully went down on the uphill side.

Chemung Trails.
Some ice, some snow, some bare ground and some wet spots.
Flowing streams had some very nice ice features - good excuse to stop and enjoy the surroundings a few times.
