Run 21:37 intensity: (5:04 @0) + (10:26 @1) + (5:31 @2) + (36 @3) 1.68 km (12:52 / km) +105m 9:48 / km

Didn't look like much snow at the parking lot and the trail was well packed. Strapped the snowshoes to the backpack anyways. Hoofed it out along the Yellow Trail - SpikeCross worked well.
Turned left onto the Arbutus Hill Trail - had been snowshoed in, but a lot less traffic, so it was very loose.

Snowshoe 1:29:06 intensity: (35:39 @0) + (43:30 @1) + (7:08 @2) + (2:49 @3) 5.84 km (15:15 / km) +155m 13:28 / km
ahr:113 max:135 shoes: RedFeather Race Snowshoes

Quick move of the snowshoes from the pack onto the feet, and off and running again. Lights snow now falling. Cleats provided good additional grab in the looser stuff. Took the 2nd right onto the Arbutus Hill loop - saw 1 guy on snowshoes coming down. Not much in the way of view up top - snow and clouds.
Kept the pace nice and easy, running more than walking. Took a right at the end of the loop, then near the bottom of the deep-dark section ( heavy hemlock coverage), jumped off the trail and bushwhacked SE to go around the E side of Double-Dammed Pond. Some thicker areas in that section - hard to judge how bad it would be in non-snow conditions, or with leaf-on conditions.
Fun outing.

Downhill Ski 1:15:00 [0]

Timed this well - flatlanders all pulling out and heading south, parking spot open right by the Panorama lift to the summit, lift lines non-existent. Squeezed in 5 runs - good conditions.

Another great evening ski session. 2 folks just leaving as I arrived, had the trails to myself. Peaceful out there.

Some thin spots where the tracks had pulled up junk. Looks like the downhill snowmaking crew made several trips over to the pumphouse on the upper holding pond, at high speed, on the Gator UTV rather than a snowmobile. At least they stayed (mostly) on one side of the groom trail, chewed it up pretty good. Next pass with the groomer should fix it, but it irritates me how little Gunstock cares corporately about the XC side of the house. Rant over...

Poking around on the RV Farm trails. Saw 2 guys coming in as I headed out - they'd busted trail on the loop and one connector. I got to bust out some of the other trails - magical conditions.
Light snow still falling. Occasional blinding flashes from reflection off snow covered hemlock branches weighed down as I'd come around a corner.

Really liking the SpikeCross as a winter running shoe. Good support, good fit, spikes seem to be in the right spots to grip well.
