Note

Skied at Caringorm Mountain for 5 hours - mostly off-piste in the morning as the piste was rubbish then then M1 and White Lady (red runs) in the afternoon, which was lovely, especially when snow came out. Some good quad burns at the end of some of the longer runs!

Skiing 50:00 [2] 7.0 km (7:09 / km) +700m 4:46 / km

Up to to Cnap Coire na Spreidhe (1150m) from lower car park. Short ski down through some boulders towards Strath Nethy then skin back up to near 1150m before an amazing ski down soft powder towards car park - so good we skinned back up to do it again but temperature rising all the time, so snow not as good 2nd. Just a 3 skin day today! ;-)

Ski touring up Cairn Lochan in Cairngorms then down Lurchers Gully. Nice morning skinning but then almost zero visibility on plateau. Good workout for the quads!

Orienteering race 1:53:03 [5] 8.1 km (13:57 / km) +330m 11:36 / km
shoes: VJ Integrator

Actual distance - 11.59km (extra mostly around #15 with some round #20!) - nearly 50% extra which is shocking!
Actual climb - 332m (felt a lot more!)

Pretty good run until after #14 when all the wheels fell off. Slight wobble at #12 (lost 1') when Sasha caught me up coming into #11. Was about to nail #13 when my (apparent!) local knowledge pulled me off to the right - probably just 1' lost.

A clear 3' ahead of RC coming out of #14 and hot on the heals of DW, albeit well off the pace of the three younger lads!

#15 was a complete disaster - started running on (apparent!) local knowledge rather than orienteering. Won't do that again! A good 17' mistake as much higher than i would allow myself to think it was!!! Aaarrrgggghhhhh!!!

Back on track after #15 until #20 when i appear to have completely misread the map - perhaps poor eyesight, most likely fed up by that point. Didn't really like this loop and felt at least 2, if not 3 of these could have been dropped quite happily. #23 to end was fine.

Bring on the next event so i can erase this one!!
