my "race" only lasted 8mins and a mile of the course.
my slip/fall happened only 2 1/2 mins in before the first climb but i ran on for another 5 or so mins until a glance down at my left knee and what i saw told me that i had to stop. got as far as the piper at the hut, took shelter but was getting cold so headed against the flow of runners back down the trail to meet the medics.

just below the left knee has 27 stitches to close up a deep and rough wound caused by a heavy slip and fall on loose stones. Heavy bruising and swelling from knee to mid shin. Will need several redressings and will keep stitches in for 14 days.
Knee & joints/ligaments all assessed and seem fine.
