Day 2 of NAOM, middle distance race near Castelo de Vide, same area as yesterday. Heavy rain and sunshine changing rapidly and strong wind.
I had a rather bad race with one major and two minor mistakes, about 7 minutes lost :-((

NAOM Day 1, middle distance race near Castelo de Vide. Nice open and rocky terrain. Awfull weather, rain and wind. Temperature at least OK at 14 degrees.
I had a decent race. 2 minor mistakes to controls #8 and #9 though.
5th place, 1 min 40 behind.
Not starting to the night sprint in Castelo de Vide, weather too bad and lamp not OK.

Day 4 of POM. Same area as yesterday. Cold and windy weather,some rain. Had an early start, did not like that.
More or less ok till control #5. Then blackout: ran 2/3 back to #4! Time lost: 6 Minuten.
To #7 then: thought I had to check #3 again...
Then straight. to #7, which I missed. Time lost from 6 to 7: 6 minutes.
15th for the day and back from 7th to 10th final after 4 days.

Day 3 of POM. Long distance race at the same place as yesterday. Weather was fair, no sun, cold wind blowing. Technically easy course, but physically demanding. I had a decent race without pushing very hard. No major mistakes.
3rd place of 48.

Day 2 of POM. Middle distance race near Penamacor. Decent weather conditions. Nice terrain, mostly open, lots of boulders and bushes.
I had a very bad race. Lost 5.5 minutes at control 4 and another 4.5 at control 5!
More time lost at #10 (1.5 min), #11 (30 s), #12 (30 s) and #13 (1 m) for a total of more than 13 minutes!!! Place 25 of 49 for the Day :-((

Saturday Feb 6, 2016 #

Day 1 of POM near Penamacor. Middle distance race. Cold and windy weather.
Had bad start: lost 3.5 minutes at the first control. Another 3 minutes at 3 others.
Finally 2 min. behind best time.

Urban night sprint in Penamacor. Very nasty weather conditions: Mix of heavy rain, wind and fog. Problem with headlamp, switching off and on again. An awfull experience in fact. 4th place, 1 minute behind.

POM warm up race in Anascer, north of Penamacor. Nice open terrain with lots of big boulders, good runnability. Had a decent race, one major mistake of 1 min. 2nd place out of 23, (8 s behind).
After the race the organiser offered a BBQ in Benquerenca nearby.
I also visited a few controls of model event #3 in the village of Benquerenca (walking).
