Orienteering race (Jircs relays) 38:00 [4] 3.5 km (10:51 / km)

Relay team - Me, Nathan and Ben
The area was pretty damb horrible so I worked with everybody to find number one and fell down a hill, number 2 and 3 went well but at number 4 i was on the wrong side of the valley and lost the front of the relay. Then i was slowed down by all the damb marshes and when i got to 5 i assumed i was close to last place. Spiked the next couple controls and caught several people up, while destroying all bits of nature that got in my way - which by now had really annoyed me. Was a bit confused at 12 but managed to work out where i was and overtook several more people. I saw Nick just ahead of me at the spectator control so i ran hard to number 14 but was on the wrong hill for 10 seconds. After that i managed to spike the rest of the controls and overtook 4 people between 13 and 16. I sprinted in the direction of the noise which i assumed was the finish then passed onto my partner.
When i finished my legs were covered in mud, there was bits of tree in my hair, i had scratches all over my legs, arms and face from the branches and i had ripped a sizeable hole in my trousers.
Fun.

Event: Jircs 2011

2 PM

Orienteering race (Jircs individual) 59:46 [5] *** 7.5 km (7:58 / km) +160m 7:12 / km
spiked:18/25c

Perhaps a bit too hot for running 7.5km, but oh well. The area wasn't too bad, but there was a lot of sand in my shoes afterwards.
I started off quite slowly but managed to find 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 easily. Made a mistake at 6 so Olly overtook me and i couldn't keep up. Sad times. I could of chosen a better route to 7 but i didn't want to risk being cut up by barbed wire early on. I went onto the wrong side of the hill for number 8, then realised where i was. By number 9 i was back on track and managed to catch up Steve who was 3 minutes ahead but couldn't loose him. I overtook Jamie who started 6 minutes before me at number 13. But i had some difficulty with number 15 and 16 and the sun and sand were starting to wear me down by 18 so i couldn't keep up with the group i was with. At the spectator control I threw water in my face to cool off and managed to catch up the group for a good-ish finish.
I take back what i said about rushcliffe last week, this course was way hotter

Played Ultimate Frisbee in P.E. It's like frisbee, except it's ULTIMATE. The game kind off got quite violent near the end
7 PM

Orienteering 33:15 [3] 4.6 km (7:14 / km)

It was alright as the course went on.. But number 1 wasn't there, number 2 wasn't in the right place and number 4 wasn't in the right place either
