Strength Training 40:00 [1]

I had planned on orienteering at the Rosaryville meet today (new map!), but I woke up this morning with a very painful knee. I'm not sure what happened except that I didn't ice it yesterday right after my run, but I did ice it that evening. So, between a painful, swollen knee and yuckyish weather and several unfinished chores from yesterday, I decided to stay home. I spent the entire day moving furniture, dumping trash, hauling yard debris up the hill, and carrying heavy loads, so this definitely felt like strength training.

All of this moving was a result of the realization that Tanner is probably never moving back home, so it was time to pack up his room and move Graham in to it. It was definitely a sad time when I was looking at all of this "stuff" from his life. All of the different things he had been in to at one time or another...Legos, drawing cartoons, baseball cards, etc. But, life goes on, as they say.

I also had to pack for this coming week. I am leaving Tuesday for two work days in NYC, then two work days in Basking Ridge, NJ, and then camping at West Point. So, I have to pack for a gala dinner in the city, three days of business meetings and a weekend of orienteering and camping! I will have one jam packed car.

Running 44:00 [3]

Not too much slower than what I was running this in before I hurt my knee. This was a good barometer of how much further I have to go. I had had aspirations of getting to PWF for this run, but life and chores got in the way.

Caitlin is home! I picked her up today at Dulles, and it was a mighty tearful reunion. It's so good to have her home...especially when she bears gifts of Torino chocolate!

A quick run through the hood on a cool, grey morning. It felt really good.
