Orienteering race 56:16 [4] 4.2 km (13:24 / km) +190m 10:56 / km

This was difficult. My legs had nothing left after yesterday. I can't wait until I'm old enough to drop down to Brown when I want to. I only made 1 navigational error...I dropped too low on the way to my penultimate control and had to climb back up. Then I had to climb to the finish. I almost puked.

Overall, not a bad weekend considering my lack of training. I need to step things up for Scotland. It was also fun being on the Review Panel again. I enjoy being part of the process that selects the best team possible to represent the US at WOC. Even when it means you sometimes have to deal with people who don't agree with you.

Orienteering race 1:51:12 [4] 6.4 km (17:22 / km) +290m 14:10 / km

Again, happy with this race. I nabbed silver, mainly because I stuck it out. There were quite a few DNFs, but I told myself to just carry on, and I did. Didn't have any navigational issues until #8...again. I was heading right on line to it, but passed a control on a small cliff with guys punching in. Of course, I had to find the cliff on my map, but could not. There was a cliff a ways away, and I started panicking that I had gotten so far off. Oh no, where was I?

I took a few more steps in the original direction of my control and saw someone punching in...it was in a ditch. Phew! After I got my map back and compared with Jim Hall's, I saw that the cliff was hidden by my control number for 8. It sure would have been nice if that number had been moved just a bit so as not to cover the cliff.

I was absolutely thoroughly exhausted after this. I think I fell asleep by 9:30.

Orienteering race 29:28 [5] 3.8 km (7:45 / km)

I was pretty happy with this. Made some good route choices; only got caught out by one control - #8. I took a bad route and then ended up on the wrong side of an uncrossable wall. I could see people punching in, but I had to go around an entire building before I could get to it.

Again, happy with this considering I've done very minimal (next to none) training since thanksgiving.

Orienteering 1:00:00 [2]

Walking around the model map with Mikell. We walked under Fern Bridge. It was pretty cool.

Strength Training 1:00:00 [3]

I went with a heavier weight for each exercise. It was hard.

Running 39:56 intensity: (7:00 @2) + (32:56 @3) 3.0 mi (13:19 / mi)

With a little bit of pre-planning, I went to Chatfield after work and did a short trail run. My new office is about 2 exits from the park, so it should prove to be a very convenient place to go running and biking after work. At least until the Army Corps of Engineers floods the river zone and obliterates the trails there.
