Note

It was a fun event this weekend, and I'm glad I went. I usually shy away from the Interscholastics because of the throngs of kids everywhere. But this time, I talked to some of them, and they were so nice and enthusiastic. It was quite refreshing.

I also attended the Board Meeting (my main reason for coming to this event). I haven't decided yet how I feel about being on the board and how things work, but after this weekend, I feel even less sure about how things are working in OUSA. I wonder if some people have their own agenda, not necessarily what is the best for OUSA. I'll have to keep thinking about that.

On a happier note, I had a great time on Saturday night, going out to dinner with Mike and Mary and Chris Silva, my travel companion for the weekend.

Day 2 of GNC.

I was able to get a pair of safety glasses at Walmart, with bifocal lenses. Saved!

I still took a long time today, but I had far fewer mistakes. The problem today was my knee...It was very sore from yesterday. I basically got out of bed, barely able to move, wondering if I should run today. But as I moved around, everything loosened up a bit. And by the time I was at the start line, I felt fine. Tonight, though, is a different matter.

Day 1 of the 2016 GNC. Green Y.

This could have been a good run except that as I was getting ready to walk to the start, I realized I didn't have my glasses. This was pretty much a disaster since I can't see much of anything on the map without my glasses. I decided to bring my regular reading glasses to see if those helped.

Well, a third of the way to #1, I realized my reading glasses were not going to work, so I tucked them in my bra (they wouldn't fit in my pocket), and decided to wing it. From then on, I had to stop, preferably in a sunny spot, to study my map, memorize the next section, and then take off. As a consequence, I never felt certain of where I was, stopped a lot, and made many small errors that began to add up.

I was not at all happy with this run, so vowed to do better on Sunday.

PT 30:00 [1]

Back to PT. My left knee and hip had not been feeling so great, so I went to the doctor. He said my knee and hip weren't so bad, but he felt I should have more mobility in both of them. So PT it is.

Note

Some not so great news. Don had a run in with his truck. He thought it was in Park, but it was in Reverse. He got knocked down by the car door and was run over on his chest. He was airlifted to Fairfax Hospital and is in trauma ICU for a few features with 10 broken ribs. The docs say he'll be fine, but there's a long road ahead of him. My heart is broken. I think I'll be heading to WV next week after he gets home to help out. We'll see.

Running (C25K) 37:27 intensity: (21:27 @3) + (16:00 @4)

Week 4 #2

I was not feeling this at all...had a bit of GI distress the entire time. I made it home just in the nick of time.

Other than that, it was fine. Temps in the upper 40s; the trail was still a mess but the road was completely clear, so no wipe outs today.
