Cuivre RIver Green Middle. Finally i ran consistently without a big error! Hesitant on first leg (correctly 0 i had drifted right), A few minor route choice bobbles, but this course rewarded commitment to whatever choice you made much more than careful evaluation of options. Around control 6 i saw mike minium ahead of me, and though i was navigating on my own, seeing that he was in the direction i was heading was a great reassurance. first of about 22 green runners (first win ever at an A meet)! by about a minute or so, i think. It's also the fastest per km time i think i've ever had,. I was not running flat out, but if i'd gone much faster (or had a more technical course) i would have been in danger of making errors. The course suited me in that it wasn't nearly as technical. as I had expected.

Cuivre RIver MO Green/Brown sprint. Very good navigation most of the time except control 9, for which i had a minor 90degree error, lost about 30s. I think i was second on green (out of 29), behind pullman by a minute, and ahead of pg by 10s ( both major surprises!)

Orienteering -race race 1:25:51 intensity: (25:51 @2) + (1:00:00 @3) *** 5.0 km (17:10 / km) +150m 14:56 / km

Night O champs green, Cuivre RIver. much better navigation than usual except for 5, which took an extra 20 minutes - twice i had to reattack from the road junction, and i'm still not quite sure what i did even when i finally got it. as the course wore on i found myself underrunning many controls- need to keep track of that. I'll write more once i've looked at the gps
After gps. Placed 7/20, which i consider a great result. winner (BP) did just under an hour, and i lost 20 minutes on control 5.... wow- not too bad!
On 5 i twice got drawn in by a reentant just north of what i was aiming for, mostly parallel to mine but not quite. I was pretty confident when i went that way, but when the terrain didn't match up so well to my vague and poorly thought out ideas of what it should look like I made the mistake of pushing on.
I have finally learned to hold a bearing, and that made all the difference this night.

After some repotting at BNP, some bearings in the flat riverbottom on east side of Hinckley. I have gotten much better with bearings after working with Dave a few weeks ago - thanks guy! Fantastic day out!
