So irrelevant to orienteering but... it took me until the second ad I saw for "Next" to realise that it was probably based on Philip K. Dick's "The Golden Man". Now I see that they're acknowledging the debt, though I wonder whether they could have got away with not doing so given that it seems the only element of the story they're using is the central idea of someone having an ability to see only a short distance into the future and select among the possible alternatives resulting from different actions on his part.

OTOH, that would be a darned useful ability for an orienteer - pick the future in which find the control with the right code soonest, avoid the futures in which you step in gopher holes and twist your ankle.
