Orienteering 1:43:54 [4] 11.92 km (8:43 / km) +540m 7:06 / km

US Team Fundraiser Day 2 Blue - a very enjoyable day in the woods but back to something approximating normal performance-wise. Didn't feel bad physically but messed up technically on 3 and 4 (undermapped rocky hillside - if hope didn't spring eternal I would have learned from my troubles on 3 to stay low and count reentrants on the opposite slope so I could attack uphill into 4 - very stupid) and hindsight makes me think a couple of route choices weren't so hot either. Had a shot at making a serious parallel error leaving the road to get to 17 but caught myself and got away with a little added distance and an additional contour or so of climb at a steeper angle than on my intended route. An okay day but could and should have been better. Not better to the tune of being in sight of Wil's awe-inspiring 82 minutes but better.

Orienteering 35:55 [4] 4.79 km (7:30 / km) +345m 5:31 / km

US Team Fundraiser WRE - all but entirely clean run. No doubt assisted relative to the field in general by QOC's abundance of both spur and reentrant terrain and races run in same in the previous month and a half - most of the competition presumably wouldn't have had so many races available in December and January. Felt bad physically but it was clearly the feeling bad due to high speed and an evil amount of climb for the distance sort of feeling bad since I'm not about to complain about coming 2nd to an elite Finn.

Orienteering 55:00 [2] 4.0 km (13:45 / km)

Precision training set by Eric Bone - perhaps 1.5 km of line-O with five or six controls and then 9 bags of control picking. I do so little technique training I felt I couldn't pass this up. Managed to turn the 6th control picking bag into a relocation exercise, nor was the line-O trivial.

Cycling 1:37:00 [3] 18.5 mi (5:15 / mi)

Non-impact day mandated by an evening seeing the Kirov Ballet dance a modernist version of Cinderella. Also probably not a bad idea to suspend the pounding on my lower body before heading to Alabama.

Cycling 1:06:00 [3] 13.0 mi (5:05 / mi)

Running 25:49 [1]

Warmup, cooldown and approximately 2 minutes of rest between repetitions.

Running 16:11 [5] 4.4 km (3:41 / km)

4x1100m I intervals on slightly wet grass in 4:00, 4:03, 4:04 and 4:04 - even pacing by my standards.

Cycling 1:06:00 [3] 13.0 mi (5:05 / mi)

Form exercises 44:00 [3]

Feeling good despite moderately heavy Sunday. Did the usual warmup and cooldown, bum kicks, A's, B's and 9x100m strides and two sets of 25 two-legged vertical leaps (jump up, bringing knees towards chest, land, repeat).
