Note

Inaugural Run! Geek! Run! 8K - teams of up to 10, best four including at least one of each gender count. Race is new this year, sponsored by the Northern Virginia Technology Council, with the slick web site one would therefore expect. On the assumption that employees of tech companies will be encouraged to participate, I'd really like to field a QOC team - who, if not geeks, constitutes a natural target demographic for orienteering? - but I'll have to recruit one or more women beyond Corinne since she'll have just run the Marine Corps Marathon the previous Sunday.

Also, Rosaryville O meet later in the day, which may complicate the task of recruiting any QOC woman for the 8K.

Cycling 1:25:00 [3]

Cycling between Branch Avenue Metro and Rosaryville, both ways.

Orienteering race 49:41 [4] 8.0 km (6:13 / km)

QOC Rosaryville Blue.

Orienteering 30:00 [2]

Picking up eight controls in mostly in the southern part of the park, just east of the road to the Mount Airy mansion. There was indeed, as John Blaisdell had said, a massive new rootstock in the middle of the remains of some sort of surface mining/excavation.

Cycling 30:00 [3]

Cycling to work. Home by way of the aquatic center.

Note

Unbelievable! Letro Sport AB has now dropped some of the models of O shoes of which they're trying to get rid of the last few large size pairs down to 100 SEK. Hard to lose at that price even if the Silva K100 still has awful durability problems. Too bad for anyone else if I just bought their last pairs.

Deep Water Running 1:50:00 [2]

Long slow run in the pool - first of the season. Got to get into the routine of doing these early in the morning when the place is quieter.

Note

Nothing loggable today since I had a meeting at the FAA in the morning and a thoroughly awesome performance by Shen Wei Dance Arts at the Kennedy Center in the evening. Transport supplied by Metro throughout - saw the signs advertising their new policy of sometimes searching bags randomly for the first time on the way downtown in the evening - except that I walked home from the KC, which took about an hour.
