Note
(rest day)

Everything feeling OK this morning.

So that's it for the major events. Honours shared between Clive, Quentin and myself:
JK and BOC Sprint: Quentin.
BOC Long and Middle: Clive.
JK Long: Chas.

As I didn't compete the Sprints, and JK is always my main target, I'm quite content with the outcome. It's a few years since I've competed in all the Majors (due to varous injuries), so happy with that. Hopefully next year I might be adding the Sprints to the list. Although, after the various problems with Saturday's event, I'm not so sure I'm that bothered.

Next up O Ringens (Shamrock and Swedish) and 6 Days, maybe with a trip to Schiehallion in the meantime...

Orienteering race 35:00 [4] 4.0 mi (8:45 / mi)
shoes: Innov8 X-Talon

British Middle Distance Champs, Park Wood, Bradenham and Naphill.
M50, 5.0km, 145m.
Very surprised to see my 2 minute man (Graeme A) at no.1. Chased him down through #2 and #3 before leaving him behind up the hill to #5. Didn't take sufficient care to #6 and lost track of where I was. Ended up circling just short of the control for 2 mins. After this I decided to go for it knowing I risked further time loss. No more serious mistakes until #25 (too far up hill) and #26 (overshot) both loosing around 30 seconds. So 3 big time losses plus plenty more hesitations. Ended up 2 min down on Clive in 2nd place. Frustrating but probably equally so for everyone else.
Left calf was absolutely fine but R Achilles a bit sore/tight after finishing.

Note
(rest day)

Spectating the chaos of the British Sprint Champs. Happy to not be part of it.
Spent half an hour watching streams of people cutting across an unmapped gap in an uncrossable boundary. Then the planner turned up and put a fence across it. Shambles.

Golf with Andy and Roy. 32 Stableford points (19/13). Usual mixed bag.
Aware of something not quite right with calf but no pain.

Trail running 18:00 [3] 2.0 mi (9:00 / mi)
shoes: New Balance 1080

Set out to do 6 miles but felt twinge in left calf (in the usual place) after 2 miles. Carried on a little at reduced pace but felt a couple more twinges. Walked a bit and then jogged/walked home. Immersed my calf in a stream for 5 mins.
Just before I felt the twinge I was feeling good and thinking how nice it was to be running freely without any niggles at all. Maybe I was pushing on just a little too hard? Not overly worried. I've been here many times before and I'm sure it will be OK again quite soon. Not so sure how it will be this weekend though. I wasn't running Saturday anyway so I'll give it a go on Sunday and hope for the best.

Note

Golf. On my own played 14 holes including the summer course for first time this year. Took the opportunity to try a few new things.
Could feel the calf but more just a tightness rather than sore.

A bit nervous about trying the usual exercises after the twinge earlier. Cautious, particularly on the plyometrics, but calf seemed to cope OK. Maybe I'm worrying unnecessarily.

(rest day)

Golf. Mid week Medal. Course closed first thing but got out at 10am only to get rained (and blown) off after 9 holes. 48 for front 9 which is OK in the conditions.

Kim has featured me in her blog. It explains well the reasoning behind my calf rehabilitation:
