swimming 35:00 [3]

After feeling so wiped by yesterday's orienteering, it's nice to know that I can still swim fairly decently. Did an easy 200 to warm up, then 10 laps on the 90s, averaging in the low 50s for each lap. Kept my heart rate nice and low for the first 6 or 7, then I *may* have raced Val for the last few intervals, coming in in the low 40s for each. Did a few more minutes of aqua-jogging (seriously, is there a way to do this gracefully?) and treading water since I actually kind of felt it in my legs after last Thursday's swim, so I figure it might help keep some muscle tone once it gets too uncomfortable to jog on land.

Event: QOC Jug Bay

orienteering 1:24:21 [1]

Short advanced course at Jug Bay. Orienteering today might not have been the best idea, as I was getting overheated just waiting for the start, but I (perhaps foolishly) decided to push through one last event for the season. Had plenty of trouble concentrating, and lost several minutes in errors on the way to 1, 2, and 3 (mindlessly jogging without paying attention to the scale so I overshot my attackpoint on #1, poor compass work to #2, failing to make/keep to a plan and then aimlessly wandering around on #3). Took a rest for a couple minutes to make sure I wasn't getting too overheated, then managed to not make too many errors through the rest of the course, although I was walking quite slowly. Definitely should have taken some water, and my sides started to cramp up between 6 and 7. Glad I only registered for a couple of the days during the French 5-days, and it seems that opting for the shortest advanced course each day was a good choice, but I'm certainly hoping that I'm able to remain a little more focused so I can at least minimize the time lost to silly errors.

swimming 45:00 intensity: (10:00 @1) + (20:00 @2) + (15:00 @3)

Mostly laps, with some treading water, and an attempt to do some aqua-jogging, but I mostly just looked like a wounded penguin so I went back to swimming laps before I embarrassed myself any further.

running 35:00 [2]

Some jogging around the track while I waited for J to be done at work since we carpooled in this morning. Had a bit of a headache, which I hoped that physical activity would help with, but no such luck.
