Event: DVOA Warwick

10 AM

Orienteering race 1:10:29 [4] 3.39 mi (20:47 / mi) +378ft 18:48 / mi
shoes: Salomon Speedcross 3

A beautiful day in the woods and good company, too! Fun to get out and try some of hughmac4's coaching advice to trust myself / have more confidence. Don't know how well it worked. I navigated "okay" and was challenged physically by the climb and the running opportunities near the end of the course.

Took me 3 controls or so to get into the map.

6-7-8 - really fun going downhill / 13-14 whee!

8 was my best control. I saw it from SO far away!

10 to 11 - probably should have gone down to the trail, but wanted the experience of navigating in terrain and didn't feel like climbing back up.

Slogging uphill is where I slow way down. Really fun day, though! And Brian is starting to catch up to me, I better watch out...

Walk/Jog 30:01 [3] 2.41 mi (12:27 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Adrenaline Blue

FDR 1.5 loops. Quick one just to get that "30 minutes of moderate activity" in on a rainy day. Yesterday I felt SOOOO tired, and then I slept 10 hrs and today I still feel tired. Too much teaching? Allergies? Change of life? (Gasp!) I dunno. Zzzz.

Resistance Bands 20:00 [3]

Limm resistance loops for strength training. Pretty fun. Incorporated them into my afternoon yoga session too! Imagine doing a crescent lunge AND a bicep curl with the band around the thigh. Etc
4 PM

Walk (streets) 24:58 [3] 1.69 mi (14:46 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Adrenaline Blue

FDR Park 1 loop. Just a quick walk after grocery shopping and teaching. Knee feels OK. Windy!

shoes: Hoka One Challenger ATR 4

Smedley loop which I have not done in a long time. Felt great!! ...except some pains in my right knee towards the end, and I had to actually walk when I felt like running. The pain subsided when walking and flared when running. Hope that goes away! I think it may be all these yoga classes I'm teaching - warrior 2 and standing balance poses. I teach proper alignment but sometimes I'm not always been as careful as I could while teaching. Just that minor twisting/crumbling of the knee I think has taken some tolls on my joints. Will keep my eye on it (also bearing in mind I only had one day off between a pretty big run for me and Sunday's cavorting.) I really have to stop modeling during yoga classes completely I think as the repetition really creates some wear and tear!
