Another bike ride with some pick-ups - no set intervals, just when I wanted to ride harder, and the section on 441 with no shoulder, going uphill from Five Mile to Baird.

4 min jog / 2 min walk cycles from the Big Field, before we went out to Castaways for the first family dinner out since the pandemic hit. It was outside, but we were placed next to a ridiculous table of 20 that kept walking around our table to visit the other end of their table, without having the courtesy of tossing on masks. Not sure if they were ignorant, over the top Trump supporters, or both. I hope just the former.

Well, this was a complete disaster. It took us over 30 minutes to print the maps because whoever made the map did not crop it properly for 8.5 x 11 paper. They probably should have asked for help, because the clues would have also easily fit on the map, but were in a separate PDF, so Nate and I wrote them onto the map ourselves.
I had more than my usual problem of reading the trails on the map - going to C1 I didn't see the trail that went straight north - turns out it is now blocked and not visible unless you know where to look. So, I ran some extra distance but not too bad, then the trails did not seem to line up, so even though I recognized the stream junction, I started checking too early. C2 was a disaster. I kept thinking that I found the "upper" trail, but it kept leading to things that did not line up and I spent over 20 minutes on this.
C3-6 went fine. Going to C7, I drifted a little low and had to climb to the control. Leaving C7, I came to an intersection that I thought was the high intersection, and went down the trail to the next intersection and went right. But I had been at the lower intersection already, so I turned right onto an unmapped trail, which eventually petered out and I was stuck having to climb around the impassable bank of the creek. I worked my way back down to the creek and looked for the stream junction near C8, but must have missed it. While this was going on, I had fallen into the creek and a bit of water got inside my map bag and took out controls 9-12, so I just got out of the water and did the last few controls on the west side.

FCH3 from the Monroe Ave area, visiting the hill off of Field St and Cobbs Hill park as Messiah set his final trail before heading back to Canada. PJ (TW), Nate and Brenna all joined.

Drove over to Lucien Morin park for a run that started with a few raindrops, which escalated into a moderate thunderstorm with some decent downpours, even in the woods. Just did 3 min jog / 2 min walk cycles thru the hills. I was overly cautious on the slick trails, so I only fell once. I saw at least 9 frogs or toads or whatever on the trails.
Attackpoint guessed this was a hash today, which was not far from the truth (I have an Elysian Contact Haze waiting for me here in the parking lot).

Nate and I went up to Whiting Road and I did cycles of 5 min jog / 1 min walk. The humidity was killer, so even though I was slow, it took a lot out of me.

Drove over to EA and went out to Sardinia with Walt, before catching Brigid's show at Julie and Gary's place. I was not able to find the first two markers, but for the first one (C10), I know I was in the exact position circled on the map. The second one (C11) was tougher to be sure of the location because the intermittent streams on the map and in reality didn't really align. Went very smoothly after that, with just a short hunt for the last marker.

Bought a slightly-used bike from Fetch today, so I took it out for a ride, covering roads, the bike path and the Hojack trail and it worked out quite well. Butt did get sore by the end.
