Orienteering race 44:13 intensity: (13:07 @2) + (7:54 @3) + (13:15 @4) + (9:57 @5) 3.75 mi (11:47 / mi) +57m 11:16 / mi
ahr:145 max:171 weight:178lbs

ROC Trail Challenge at Seneca Park
Repeat of a previous course is better than no meet for sure! I think this may gave been backwards of last time, or perhaps some other change, because it was familiar, and not.

The pre-race was a mess, starting with leaving work late. I won't go into all the details, but I got off 104 on the wrong side of the river, and then forgot my glasses before the start (so I didn't hear that we were supposed to punch the start). And by the time I finished the race, I still didn't know the map scale (it said 1:5, but it turns out it was 1:10).

I went bushwhacking on the way to C8 because I thought I had gone too far, then I went by it without seeing it, so Steve and Dick pulled away and Stina got by me. I slowly closed the gap on Stina, as we gradually gained on Dick. With about 3 controls left, Stina let me go ahead entering the woods after crossing the road, then Dick was too far left, so I got to C17 ahead of them. At C18, Zak came from the other direction ahead of us, for some reason, and I caught him going to C19, but couldn't keep up.

Walking 19:28 intensity: (19:22 @1) + (6 @2) 0.78 mi (24:58 / mi) +20m 23:09 / mi
ahr:92 max:119

Control pick-up. Zach got the 5 farthest controls.

Easy jog/walk at Whiting Road. Generally 3 min jog / 30 sec walk.

Biking 35:39 intensity: (33:15 @1) + (2:22 @2) + (2 @3) 2.95 mi (12:05 / mi) +12m 11:56 / mi
ahr:90 max:138 weight:177lbs

If this looks a little slow for biking, it's because I had bike trouble - probably something with the rear derailleur - and I had to walk it back home.

Still worn out from the weekend, so a little slow, but not too bad.

Running intervals 40:00 intensity: (9 @0) + (4:55 @1) + (21:48 @2) + (7:16 @3) + (4:23 @4) + (1:29 @5) 3.7 mi (10:49 / mi) +1m 10:48 / mi
ahr:132 max:171 weight:178lbs

Wasn't feeling too bad after yesterday's workout, so I decided to push my luck and head to the track for some intervals. The only sensible workout was 8x400 at I (not R) with 200 recovery, which I did as 1/3 walk, 1/3 jog, 1/3 walk. Goal was to be not much over 2 minutes, but I did better than that:
1:58.94
1:55.60
1:54.66
1:54.92
1:55.04
1:54.20
1:46.57 (penultimate)
1:50.43 (surviving)

Just hope I didn't overdo it...

Biking (Spin) 54:00 intensity: (9:34 @1) + (34:09 @2) + (8:41 @3) + (1:36 @4) 15.1 mi (3:35 / mi) +11m 3:34 / mi
ahr:129 max:150 weight:178lbs

Since it was raining this AM, I decided to try out the group cycle class at Bayview. It was a tough session, with the hardest part being the standing sections. To be stable, I had to gear up quite a bit. Obviously still too weak in whatever muscles are used to stabilize, and I had to break down and sit a couple of times.
