Orienteering (Woodstock blue mid) 43:07 [3] 5.5 km (7:50 / km)
shoes: O' Icebuds 2014

I made this map so have an unfair advantage. The map is showing its age already. There are numerous new trails (bikers, ATV, Horses), some veg changes (rootstocks gone, some new slash, some newer green areas).
Because the course was shorter I tried to keep moving. Generally woods were very open. It was a runners course. I did lose a little time on one control where I just flaked out and over assumed I knew where I was going.
2 PM

Orienteering (Woodstock sprink) 21:27 [4] 2.2 km (9:45 / km)
shoes: O' Icebuds 2014

It was billed as a sprint but was more like a short middle. It was held in the more technical sections of rock on the map. I really enjoyed trying to read the map at speed. The map was blown up to 1:5,000 so there were some map issues. the map was drafted at 1:10,000 and details had to be sacrificed for readability. At 1:5000 the detail wasn't quite right.
Overall , I still enjoyed it.
I tried to run hard the whole way but just don't have the endurance anymore. I did screw up the go control where I was just running hard without a plan and screwed up my route.
3 PM

Orienteering (control pickup) 1:05:40 [3] 3.22 mi (20:24 / mi)
shoes: O' Icebuds 2014

Control pickup. I volunteered for the farthest controls to get some extra training for the billygoat. I jogged out slowly but had to walk back once I picked up the water stop (carrying a gallon jug plus all the controls).
5 PM

walk (road) 30:46 [3] 1.31 mi (23:29 / mi)

Went for walk with Darcy.

Soccer (indoor) 32:00 [3]
shoes: Soccer Indoor Nike 2013 Mercer

We moved back down a division to the easier league. We started off poorly then got worse. The other team was fast and our halfbacks kept letting them slide in behind us.
Offense wise we played well but couldn't score. We kept hitting the post. We did finally manage to battle back and tied the game near the end. We ended up tied 6-6. So much for an easier league.

Orienteering (West Point: Red) 1:25:13 [3] 7.7 km (11:04 / km) +305m 9:14 / km
shoes: O' Icebuds 2014

It was a very physical (climb and blueberry bushes) and technical, lots of undermapped rock.
There were some navigations time lost but all things considering I was happy with my run.
I was slow to #1 to get a feel for the map. Clean to number 2. By number three I was tired. On my way to 4 I saw Joe Braughtiham who started 2 minutes in front of me. I don't know where he was going. I saw him again as I approached #5 but he was gone by the time I got there. I caught him around #9. We went to 10 together. I was behind him going to #11 then I tool a poor final approach and lost several minutes.
I was very disappointed on the final control. The control number hid another building completely under it. I ran tot he building but didn't see the control because it was an extra building.

I went 5.34 miles.
