Running warm up/down 20:00 [2]

Orienteering race 44:54 [4] *** 4.3 km (10:27 / km) +130m 9:04 / km
spiked:14/16c

Canadian O-Champs (Short Course)

Was flustered just before the race and took a bit to get into the rythem. Major error on control #4 and debated following Boris to it when heading out to relocate, but played it fair and relocated on my own. New O-shoes were great! Wish I had O-shoes a long time ago!

Orienteering race 16:08 [5] 2.7 km (5:59 / km)

Canadian O-Champs (Sprint Fundraiser)

A great course by Mike Smith in a downtown park during BBQ. Was really fast and really fun with a great crowd and lots of excitement. Unfortunately my one goal of not embaressing myself was blown in the first 20sec of my run, when everyone got to watch me take peel off for control #2... you'd think I learnt that "1" comes before "2" sometime back in elementary school. Tried to make up for it but the wheels were not there to catch a speed demon like J-Roc, who took the win.

Orienteering 50:00 [3]

Canadian O-Champs (Model Event)

A bit of a warmup for the upcoming races over the next few days in Williams Lake BC. Glad to get out on a non-Vancouver Island map prior to racing. One small hesitation error, but caught myself quickly and was smooth through the balance of the course.

Orienteering 2:56:12 [3] ***
spiked:31/33c

Did the 3hr Score-O from May that I missed while I was in Ontario (Thunderbird map). Did it more as a techincal exercise than a physical one, with the COC's this weekend. Good to get out, but the legs and ankles (especially the ankles) were feeling it! Too much time off them I guess; I'lll probably have to tape both ankles this weekend.

A couple of bobbles, but was tough with no controls or flagging out, so had to confirm controls on the way out of them with other features, adding time and distance. Was pleased with my map reading and that I still managed to finish under the time limit with my leisurely pace. Although disappointed that towards the end, with only 5 or 6 controls left and lots of time to spare my brain kinda switched off and I doddled through the last controls.

Oh yeah.... I hate salal! Takes your tpk way out, but haven't worked out either the distance or the climb (both, especially climb, were a lot!)

Paddling long 2:45:00 [2]

A long paddle around the islands of Tofino with my sister and BF. Snuck in a few intervals while they were taking photos of the starfish and crabs. Was raining again, but all part of the 'wet coast' experience. Also the tides were changing from 1.9' to 10.5', so were extra strong; cool playing in some of the shallow channels.

Hiking long 3:45:00 [1]

Beautiful hike along Long Beach and several side trails and coves with my sister and her BF. We then cooked dinner on the beach and watched the sun dip below the pacific, before the long drive back to Victoria tonight. Very little sleep, but the short trip was worth it as they leave tomorrow at 6:30am. We did manage to get a lot done in such a short time!
