British Middle Champs

#2 Drifted out to big path to west and took a minute to work it out [25]
#4 Too high up the slope initially [20]
#9 Simplified well and came across into right area, hitting #10. Unfortunately didn't realise it was the wrong one having checked code and it being on the list... so headed off east 'towards' #10. Found loads of fight and eventually realised error... so frustrating [3m]
Then led James Hoad largely through until #17.
#18 Haste to leave control; hit wrong path and headed north rather than west... Fortunately looked at compass before too long and worked it out, leaving Hoad behind in the process [2m]
#19 Got ahead of myself and started navigating to #20 shortly after leaving #18. Became very confused upon spotting the major path to the east. Eventually came to ampitheatre after a very long time when it dawned on me that I hadn't yet been to #19... Another very avoidable time loss [3m 40s]
#21 Attacked from northern ride thinking it was the southern one. Thickets made no sense so headed back acknowledging error, but then Ant and Jonathan Rhys appeared looking in the same area so joined them hunting in the wrong place... sigh [3m 40s]
Mini pack to the end.

Quite disappointed with this result as really felt the terrain and course suited me - low 40s and a top 20 were eminently achievable with a clean run.

British Sprint Champs Heat 1C

Trivial, as predicted (but came anyway as fancied the middle race).
Managed to get disqualified for crossing narrow strip of gravel marked as flowerbed en route to #19... Karma for not confessing last week perhaps!

British Sprint Champs Final 1C

Bit of a mess as first they tried to prevent anyone dsq in the qualifier from running the final... Eventually allowed to run C final. Not particularly bothered as long as I got a second run.

Still quite straightforward, bit of trouble looking for #2 which was hard to spot on the ground. Almost caught Thomas Cochrane (race winner) here but he gradually ran away from me thereafter.

Took safe route to #10 and lost a little time.

Finished and had 'dsq' on printout despite punching all controls correctly - assumed due to 'cheating' in qualifier. However, no-one else was punished in this fashion! Not particularly concerned but would have liked an explanation...

Edit: Revised results; now in 4th place +0.17 (but not altered on RG).
