Note

After having been sick earlier in the week and forecasted 3C with moderate to heavy rain throughout the day I chickened out of todays race and started the trip home earlier. Looking forward to the warm NJ weather:)

Note

seems like another 400 runners decided the same way...

Orienteering race 1:05:00 [3] 6.8 km (9:34 / km) +220m 8:14 / km
shoes: Icebug O-shoe

5. Nationaler in Flims
Started concentrated and well for the first loop. Not following compass clean enough to 5 - 30sec.
Good but slow on the easy controls until 9. After 9 it got very rocky for the first time and couldn't figure out directly where I landed on the path.
Ok until 12, as of where I read to 14 but realized it rather early (1min).
OK until 15.
Didn't take the safety route over the path to 16 and paid heavily for it. Bad direction combined with lots of felt trees, low visibility and very slow runnability.Took far to long to relocate (ca 6min). Air was out as of then...
Ok until 18. Again a bad direction towards the same area as to 16 and it didn't manage the second time to relocate fast in this area (3min). Twisted my ankle slightly and slowed even further down to not risk anything.
Still managed to go another time 30 degrees wrong... (3min). Slow but ok'ish until finish as of there.

Overall it went OK until 15 as of where it got pretty bad. Very cool forest for orienteering but also tough to very tough to run. Glad it wasn't a classic distance race:)
