O-in-the-oaks Day 1.
Map at Routegadget

I got beat. Made some big errors early and forgot to punch #2. This is my 3rd error of this nature in the last 2 months (See BC champs and Arnold Ice Caves), I really need to work on my focus and perhaps develope the "Ted de St. Croix" map fold.

The hill climbing was just to much for me. Too steep to run. I might have pushed through (I've run stuff that steep in Beazel), but I was concerned about running out of steam and not finishing. My map contact was also very poor today. I was focusing on attackpoints, but I spent most of my time getting lost and relocating. I think dehydration may have been a deciding factor here. All things considered, I was suprised to finish as well as I did.

Some highpoints of the race where seeing wilde pigs and a couple deer. I was also happy to that I finished with really fast splits, could it have been the water I drank at every stop?
