Orienteering race 1:53:41 [4] 9.3 km (12:13 / km) +340m10:20 / km shoes: Kainuu Integrators
Day 1: Boggs Mountain
Nice courses, but very frustrating. I was running slow, hesitating, and making big navigational errors. Never had a strong feel for distances, and never quite figured out the vegetation markings. Had to slow down at the end, to protect my ankle in really rocky terrain.
Well, I'm totally stoked for the weekend. It will be my type of orienteering. I'm looking forward to a foggy, wet doug fir and pine forest. It'll be fun and tough competition too, a lot of guys are faster than me. Conceding speed, I'll just have to go out and have fun, run clean (and run hard).
Tried riding my bike home, but didn't feel comfortable - lots of cars on the road, and cutting really close. I was tired, so I pulled off and took the bus home.
Yesterday I went out to montebello, but just helped out. The terrain looked really steep, and I thought a rest for my ankle would be better than a low quality run.
Today I fully intended to do a run, but I've got a bit of a cold, and I'll take it easy.
