Mercer Island: Depot Day indicator flashing bullish signal with upside. Traffic volume on Depot Day (Saturday errand day) was at least as heavy as it used to be in the Before Time, confirming the economic boom time forecasts. People are rushing around with an urgency to spend money. The upside? The mostly cloudy forecast turned out to be partly to mostly sunny!

Grand Ridge RT: A saddle in your back pocket is never a good sign. The carbon rails on my saddle failed catastrophically with seven miles left in my ride, forcing me to stand for the rest of the way. Adding insult to injury, I thought I had lost a glove when I stopped to stash the saddle in my pocket. I had ridden about a third of the way back when I remembered that I had put the glove in my other pocket. DOH! Not having a saddle makes it a lot harder to control the bike.

Lake Samm-Marymoor: Donuts could become habit forming. I have not had a donut for years. The Krispy Kreme free doughnut vaccination promo has changed that! I rode easy but (barely) long enough to justify a treat. I foresee stopping at the end of more rides in the near future, but I will try and only do it after hard riding! It felt good to take advantage of something good that resulted from Covid.

Grand Ridge 2x Water Tower: "Hi buddy" should have been "Hi Buddy" I always thank dog owners who have their dogs under control, and I often greet their dogs as well. One dog perked up a bit more than normal when I called out, and his owner laughed and told me that Buddy was actually his name. HaHa!

Grand Ridge: Today was more like winter than spring, but the last month has been more like spring than winter. The bike was already dirty, I was comfortably dressed for the weather, and riding on a chilly rainy day beat the alternatives: 1) not riding 2) not riding, but "riding" indoors on the Metal Firecracker. I've never seen so many people riding at GR on a rainy day, but oddly, many of them were off their bikes and under trees. Since some of them were wearing only cotton t-shirts, I'm guessing that they were trying to warm up!
