Orienteering 1:14:42 [4] 5.4 km (4.3 kph)

Dreadful weather cold and raining. the 6m in the start shute was painful. Rained most ofthe way, the worst however was brushing past some of the bushes which felt like a bucket of cold water. Course 10 was unimaginative with no significant route choices. Vegetation had had become thicker since we were last here in 2009. The Granite Terraine is familiar to Wa runners. Took early controls easy but soon became difficult to read th map with water on the glasses. Three mistake totaling 6-10m. Finished with numb and cold hands and feet and barely funtioning brain. One of the coldest events I have participated in.

Still finished well above the middle of a field (13th) of 36. Slow to put the results on the web

Walking 1:00:00 [1]

Walking all rugged up and in the rain around the Daylsford Lake, with the rotten weather no enthusiasm to do no more. Back to reading a book

MTBO 1:57:48 [4]

Goat Farm MTBO

Too late for the mass start so head out after the pack. Head off to #1 with the intention of taking the low road underneath the quaries. Unfortunately made on wrong turn early so to get to the right track I headed down a steep slope. I jamed the front brakes and ended up over the handle bars, diving to the right to avoid the bike on top of me. A bit shaken it takes a while to recover. I guess thats what happens when you dont ride a mountain bike for a few months. For #2 I dropped to the railway and was only 1 sec off the fastested pace. OK for 6,7,8,9 but could have been faster. Too high at 10 followed someone elses track through the grass. Went too high for 12 and took a minute + to work out where I was. Best Time for #13 due to a small advantage for previously doing the mapping (although 9 years ago). To #18 went over the top walking a lot of the way. Round the base may have been quicker. Finished off with a spectacular crash 5m before the finish. The track had been damp and muddy every where except here and I took the corner too fast. A very bruised and grazed right side
