MTBO (Kangaroo Gully) 2:01:55 [4] 25.0 km (4:53 / km)

Medium Course

Note to self - not a good idea to go out on the night before an orienteering event. It resulted in slow decision making and one or two legs with poor route choice.

Nailed 1 but got confused on the way out of the granite area and hesitated. Nailed 2 but hesitated on the way to 3. While I did chose the best route option I did not see the alternative due to a map fold. Fuzzy thinking out of 4 and ended up in an overgrown gravel pit, which is definately not ridable (lost a lot of time here). Overthought 6 thinking it could be difficult to see the turn off from Ashenden and took a harder, slower option.

8 to 9 the best route choice option was beneath the map fold. The route I took, higher up, was notably slower and navigationally more difficult. I came out of the bush not sure where I was.

The route to 10 was trickey and had to have two goes at it. No issues from then on.

Enjoyable ride.

Cycling 1:24:00 [4] 39.7 km (28.4 kph)

Left it till late afternoon for a rideup the coast but it was not much warmer than earlier in the day. Slight NW'ly felt like a howling gale until another rider pasted me and I then held on for a pleasant ride untill he turned off. By that stage I had warmed up and from then on managed to maintain a good pace despite the cold wind.

Cycling 1:53:27 [3] 46.3 km (24.5 kph)

Reluctant ride in the cold to Subi via the coast. Cold to start with but gradually warmed up. No cold resistant Tasmanian genes left after 26 years in the west.

Pleasant ride throughKings Park on the way back with posty

Cycling 1:06:00 [3] 28.7 km (26.1 kph)

Ride to Subiaco and back. Regeted it immediately. Soo cooold despite the extra layers. Also riding into the wind made me feel so unfit. Usual dialema of balancing the layers between keeping warm and sweating too much. Only marginally better on the way back.
